Alice's Story
Life
Graduate of Florida State Univ. in 1972.
Taught 7th grade Social Studies at Stuart Middle School (Martin Co., FL) from 1972 - 1990. Married Gregory E. Luckhardt (a Stuart native) in 1983. I was selected as Social Studies teacher of the year for Florida in 1986. Listed in "Who's Who of American Teachers", first edition, 1990.
Managed the family business with my husband in Stuart from 1984 to 2000.
Developed in 2000, a new home business with Greg, "Time Frames" - creating greeting cards, invitations, etc. along with photo restoration.
Since 1999, have had many articles published in national and international magazines. Subjects were non-fiction, mostly historical and genealogical. I research an individuals' family history.
Three books have been written, first "Legends - Family Stories & Myths" in 2006 and the second in 2007 is "The Invincible Alice" (about Alice Walters Wallace of Miami, FL - a woman pilot of the 1930s), and the third one, "O. B. Padgett ~ A Florida Son" (a lawman of the 1920s in Stuart).

Workplace
After FSU, moved to Stuart, FL (Martin County).
A teacher of social sciences at Stuart Middle School (7th graders) for 18 years. Was named Outstanding Social Studies Teacher for FL in 1986 and listed in Who's Who of American Teachers in 1990.

US and been to Europe several times, including taking groups of high school students across Western Europe in 1977 and 1983.
From 1990 - 2000 I was office manager for our family business.
2000 to present - the business was sold and my husband and I are retired, still living in Stuart, FL. We have had no children but over the years, two different red poodles.
Our most recent -"Flicker" born in June 2006.
I have written several non-fiction stories over the years and from Jan. 2007 to mid-2008 there have been 25 published by various magazines and newspapers.
My special area is historical and genealogical research.
In October 2013, Greg & I were named outstanding Martin County (Stuart) Historical Preservationists for our work on making digital thousands of documents, news articles, postcards, etc of the county. We have held that title until May 2015 when a new preservationist is named.
Worked with the city of Stuart to produce the city's centennial programs during 2014.
From Dec. 2014 to March 2015 worked with a director and film crew for the Discovery Channel to produce a show on the historical Ashley Gang - outlaws from 1911 to 1924 along the east coast of Florida. Show airs in early 2016.
Have done the research and written the proposal for the city of Stuart's approval to have a memorial plaque and a park named for a local sports and military hero - Lt. Forest K. 'Fergie' Ferguson. The big dedication ceremony is Memorial Day, May 25, 2015.
