Alice's Story

Life My family moved from Milpitas to Red Bluff when I was 9. I then left Red Bluff for Sacramento at 13 after my parents' divorce. I attended high school for 3 years in Sacto, then moved to L.A. when I was 16. I spent 8 or so years in L.A., getting married while I lived there. I then moved to Denver, Colorado, (Aurora, specifically) and got divorced there - he ended up marrying the, ahem, person (a.k.a. "wackjob") that caused the aforementioned divorce, and I hope they are happy (I'm not bitter, though!). ;-) I then lived in Denver, moved to Lafayette, Louisiana (Cajun Heartland), and then back to Longmont, Colorado (I found I was not cut out for Louisiana). I now have come "home" to Sacramento for good and couldn't love it more. I am currently single, no kids other than my Miniature Pinschers (Punkin & Rocket) and cat (Bitsy). I also help foster and place rescued dogs with adoptive homes in association with a MinPin Rescue Service (IMPS at minpinrescue.org). School I went to Martin Murphy in Milpitas from Kindergarten through 4th grade. My family then moved to Red Bluff and I attended Bidwell Elementary for 5th and 6th grades, and Vista for 7th and 8th grades. After my parents' divorce, I moved to Sacramento with my mother and attended Encina High school for 9th, 10th, and 11th grades (not counting the quarter at the beginning of 10th grade that I spent at Mira Loma High School before hot-footing it back to Encina). I decided my...Expand for more
time would be better spent working instead of being frustrated and bored in high school (a.k.a. misspent youth). I took the test and got out early, just after my Junior year, and moved to L.A. to begin my "adult life". I found out I couldn't afford to party as much as I did in high school because at any given time rent or utilities were due, and my car was ALWAYS in need of gas! ;-) Live and learn! College I piddled my way through Community College taking 2 classes a semester while working full time, in order to get into Pharmacy School. After getting into Univ of Colo School of Pharmacy, I had realized that working as a Pharmacy Tech for 12 years had burned me out on the profession. I dropped out after about 8 months at UCHSC and haven't looked back since (though the school loans are coming due - dang!!). For all of those saying "What about all that money ?" -- It would have been great, but in the long run all it can buy you is a really classy loony bin and good drugs. ;-) Workplace I was a Pharmacy tech for 12 years, working at Sav-On in Granada Hills, CA, Merit Pharmacy in Mission Hills, CA, and King Soopers in Littleton, CO. I then went to Pharmacy School for one year but realized I had already burned out on the profession. I am now a medical transcriptionist and love it (I'm a closet voyeur, I guess). I am currently working out of my home for a Sacramento area company, and hope never to find a reason to ever work anywhere else.
