Alison's Story
Life
I absolutely hated school because I was forced to wear dresses all the blankin time. Basketball and softball gave me an avenue to grow in despite the fact that Ms.B refused to allow me to try out in the 12th grade. That's her stuff. I didn't get involved in the festivities of high school because I wasn't into the cliques of the "popular kids". Shoot, in my book if you weren't in my crew, I didn't know you. Popular kids in school usually wind up fat and miserable after thoughts after high school anyway.
In UHS I dated Millie Cotto in my junior year and Letty Gali in my senior year. The fact that I am a lesbian should come of no surprise to anyone who even romotely knew me. I never dated a guy, never talked about them even though I had some fine male friends.
Three days after I graduated from UHS I was in the US Army. Basic Training was a blast. I was trained as a Surgical Technician which served me well after I served my four years in the Army. If I had to do the Army again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
I was employed at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1986 as a Surgical Technician. I ...Expand for more
was also employed as a Corrections Officer at the Nassau County Corrections Center in East Meadow. That job sucked because of the white male officers who could not deal with the fact that I did my job better then they did.
In 1990 I attended Nassau Community College and graduated in 1992 cum laude. I transfered to SUNY Albany for sociology.
In 1995, I packed up everything and drove across the coutry and settled in Northern California for 4 years. I adopted a beautiful Burnese/Australian Shepherd dog I named CHICO. In 1997 I adopted a Golden Retriever named Sarge and in 2001 I adopted a German Shepherd named Clyde. I got the GS after driving back across the country to NY where I lived in upstate NY until September 2007. I packed up my family and moved south to a quaint town called Porterdale, Georgia where I am about to submit a second manuscript for publication.
At this time, at the age of 43, I am retired and loving life greatly. In the next year, you should check the shelves for my book, "I Hadn't Planned On Being Here This Long", you may have made it into my book if our paths ever crossed. SMILE
