Allen's Story
Joined the United States Marine Corps December, 27, 1973 with the rank of Lance Corporal. Commissioned as a Marine Corps Officer after college; retired in 1995 with the rank of Major. Employed from July 1, 1995 until September 31, 2010 as the Assistant Director of Maintenance, Guilford County Schools in Greensboro, NC. Currently volunteer as a Veteran Service Officer (VSO) for the Veterans Administration (VA), National Association for Black Veterans (NAVBETs) and Benefits Veterans Network (BVN). NABVETs and BVN are both organizations that assist veterans with navigating the bureaucracy associated with obtaining earned benefits accumulated as a result of serving their country. Enjoys traveling, sports, music (jazz, R&B, Gospel).
