Allison's Story
We moved a lot while I was growing up. I usually went to a different school every year which made fitting in and making/keeping friends difficult. But the friends I made, I still hold dear to my heart. During 9th grade we moved half way during the school year, making that year a two-school year. For my junior year I went to Plymouth Area High School and that summer my parents discussed moving again. I begged them to wait so that I could attend a school for longer than one year and graduate from a school I had grown to love. Even though it was important to me to stay at Plymouth for my senior year, I didn't spend much time there during that year. Most of my graduating credits were fulfilled by that time and I wasn't much interested in the academic part of school anyway (that changed in college where I earned a 4.0 gpa). I spent a great deal of time in Silver Hall over at Plymouth State College playing the piano in one of the practice rooms or just driving around town in my white Vega, until I totaled it trying to climb a tree on a dirt road with Bobby Belair and Winston (last name?) in the car.
After high school I moved to California. Then to Dallas, back to California,...Expand for more
on to Vermont, back to Dallas, finally settling in California. I don't know if I finally found where I wanted to live or if I just simply got tired of packing up and moving! I am now living in Orange County with my hubby of 25 years. We never had any children but he comes from a huge family so we have tons of nieces and nephews to spoil rotten and then send home.
Hobbies include boating (live about 2 miles from the ocean), geocaching, gardening, and off-road racing (see reference above about the tree on the dirt road, I came by this early!). I am passionate about cooking and enjoy the challenge of trying to create EVERYTHING in a vegan format for my husband.
I own a bookkeeping business with clients from many different fields of business (non-profit agencies, manufacturing, property, retail, schools, churches, and food-service). I find it very interesting how each business has completely different financial needs.
In my spare time I volunteer with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) which mentors children that are in the foster care system. This program is nationwide and I recommend to everyone to check it out and volunteer to give a bit of your time to these kids.
