Alona's Story

Life After teaching high school math for 34 years, raising 3 children, surviving 2 marriages, and building a dream home in the mountains of PA, I've returned to western NY. I retired to live on the lake in Canandaigua in 1999. I've had 2 career changes since moving to Canandaigua. I spent 3 years designing new townhomes and single family homes and selling them. Then I became the manager of a mail order company for specialty dental supplies for implant surgeons and periodontists. Working with customers world wide has been a challenge, especially with some language barriers. Now that all 3 kids are married, living in 3 other states, I'm ready to take some time off and travel. need a travel buddy? I have traveled to Ireland and Scotland twice with an Irish duo from Rochester, the Dady Brothers. Since they have a brother living in Ireland and have had twenty some tours we got to go to some unusual places off the beaten path. I've made seven mission trips to Ecuador and developed some close relationships. I love to talk about Ecuador! Most of my time is spent working in volunteer ministries with children and in a food pantry as well as being active with women's ministries. Does anyone remember who my high school boyfriend was? We have recently connected and are glad to pick up our friendship from 50 years ago online. Still keeping busy and active - how about you?
