Alwin's Story

Life Hello, everyone! for those of you who knew me, no, I'm not in jail. I recently left my job as a prosecutor in the Criminal District Attorney's Office in Bowie County (Texarkana)and now have my own law firm.After high school I got into law enforcement and bounced around until I finally got a job with APD. Started going to college at ACC and that led me to quit the PD and go to school full time where I got my BS with honors at Texas Tech and then went to Law School. Got a job with a nice firm in Ft. Worth but wasn't until I got into prosecuting criminals that I found my niche in life. Did that for 18 years and in November of 04, opened my own law firm and still love going to work in the morning. Got my two sons raised and as a reward got married to the love of my life January (04). Johnie and I live on our farm in Hooks, Texas and are having a blast.Visit me at AlwinSmith.com. Nine West Judicial District for Arkansas asked me to be his deputy prosecutor in Little River County. Since it was a part-time position and I could keep my private practice and the State was offering me a ridiculous salary for the work, I took it. I am currently the Chief Deputy Prosecutor for 9-West Judicial District. Johnie and I have three grandsons, one by my oldest son and two by her daughter and a new granddaughter by Johnie's son who is an attorney in Little Rock. We finished building a new home on the farm to accomodate the growing family and are getting moved in. Garrett my oldest son just recently graduated from law school and has passed the Texas bar exam. August 2020. Wow, last year was crazy, got appointed by the County Judge and Commissioner's Court in Bowie County to fill the position of Justice of the Peace after Judge Hadaway passed away. Had three hats for awhile. Now up to 9 grandchildren. Looking forward to retiring in 2021 and enjoying life on the farm with Johnie and the grands.
