Amber's Story
Life
I recently moved to Texas. I am teaching in Austin at Martin Middle School. I teach 8th grade mathematics. My students just took their TAKS exam and did pretty well. Now both they and I have the summer off. 2 and 1/2 months of enjoying the beautiful weather down here.
I just bought a brand new car; a 2006 Honda Civic LX. I'm enjoying my car because it's the first one I've ever own. I've enjoyed it so much that it already has 20,000 miles on it.
I'm also getting my own apartment in Austin soon. No more roommates!!! Yeah!
College
As everyone can remember I orginally went to college for Aerospace Engineering because I wanted to be an astronaut. After discussing my plans with the airforce, they told me that I could never go into space because of my eye sight and health. So I quickly had to find a new career...Expand for more
. I went into English (and moved back up to NY). But English was too easy, so I added mathematics to it. But 2 degrees, that was still too easy, so I added an education certification on top of that. So I technically had 3 majors and I graduated college with 2 degrees and a certification.
There was one semester where I did 23 credits at the same time. That was a very very interesting semester. I actually only had 22 credits to begin with but I added the 1 credit yoga class that I needed for my PE credit, so it became 23. The yoga class definitely helped me with my stress during that semester.
Workplace
As I said before I currently teach 8th grade mathematics. There is NEVER a dull moment in my classroom. I love it. My students and I have definitely earned this summer off. I work at Martin Middle School in AISD.
