Amy's Story
I graduated from hjorth road in 1964 and moved to nipigon,ont. during the summer of '64 and I still live here . I only went to this school for grade seven and it was one of the best school year I had before that i spent 5-6 yrs at marlborough school in burnaby . I manage to catch up with a couple of friends like Linda Keating and Susan Soda , but thats about it . Would love to hear from more people tho' . I rememer Claire Fortier, Marilyn Grey there was also some kids by the last name of Armitage .... Marty Burke & his brother Robert who I was madly in love with, it was a sad time for me the summer of 1964 .... Rob had to go to his grandparents for the summer somewhere in Manitoba it was a heartbreaking moment for me when I had to see him off... y brother & myself were moving to Ontario, once again I cried for days as I knew I was never going to see Robert again .... being young & naive never thought to get his house address so I could write him a letter .... after being in Ontario & getting settled in a new school it took me about 3-4 weeks to phone his house, I was so excited to talk to him but never did have that opportunity as his brother Marty answered the phone & when he found out it was me he hung up the phone & once again the tears came .... so to this day I don't know why Marty hung up on me .... I can only imagine how broken hearted Rob was when he went to my house and finding it empty not knowing what happened to me or even where I was .... over the years I've often thought of him ... I pray that he had good life blessed with a wife & children .... but back to the summer of '64 my world fell apartd
