Amy's Story
School
Let's see...Mr. George Labecki...my English teacher...was the best teacher I ever had in school. He believed in my abilities when no one else, including myself, did. Plus, I must admit, I had a crush on him, too.
I feel bad now because I did a lot of things I shouldn't have, and I can't remember half of the time I spent in school, nor can I remember a lot of people that were in my life during that time. I regret that I didn't apply myself more. It would have made things now so much easier (academically, at least). All I wanted was to get out of school. I missed out on a lot, and it was my fault. e of the best kids that anyone could ask for, and they're my inspiration and my love.
College
About 2 years ago, I went back to HACC for pre-nursing. I'm still going now and then, part time between issues, but someday I'll get there.
Workplace
Hmmm....I spent almost 10 years with Pennsylvania Blue Shield/Keystone Health Plan Central (now Highmark). I got bored (I was 26) so I left and went to Health America, then HealthCentral, then I worked for a doctor's office, got bored again, worked for AT&T Wireless, then for Verizon Residential (my only union job where the money was fantastic....), then I was injured, off for almost 8 months on disability, then started typing manuscripts at home part time, and part time school, then I got this job at HAP (The Hospital & HealthSystem Association of PA in Harrisburg) and I've been here ever since.
