Andia's Story
Life
My dad finally retired from the military in Pensacola Florida so I graduated high school there. Both my parents are doing fine. Mum graduates this spring with a business degree so she'll finally be done with working at Gulf Power. Dad works for a cable company. Ashante, will be getting her AA this fall I think and she's doing well. Me, I am away at college. I've beem away for almost 4 years and going for one more year. I'm at Florida State University studying Fashion, but the departments going crazy so I'm going to switch back to Political Science in the Spring of 07 and graduate. I'm going to work for the rest of the year so I can pay off the rest of my loans then I'm going to spend maybe a year as a part-time missionary, maybe in Nepal. No boyfriend yet, but life is good anyway.
School
Vista Mare was probably my favorite school, partly because it was overseas and partly because we got to go down to Trinita Beach for a lot of occasions. My best friends were Nikki Dockery, Rachel Mitchel, and Shantel Sassenfield. I used to spend the night over at Nikki's house and play with her and her older brother Sean. I didn't get to see too much of them after their dad died. I remember crying about that because he was always nice plus I think he was my softball coach (right along with Chris McQuiggin's dad) for The Untouchables. I think they moved back to the states after that.
Shantel became my new best friend after Nicole left. Have family was pretty cool too because her mum was Australian and was our bus monitor and she used to make us laugh whenever she was mad. I remember one time Shantel and I spent about 5 minutes cutting our nemesis, Alex's hair. We were always fighting with her, I think its because she thought she knew everything about everything as a fourth grader so we proceeded to teaching her a lesson and cutt...Expand for more
ing about 2 inches of her hair off in Mrs. Miner's class. Which reminds me, I did not like Mrs. Miner at all. At snack time no one was allowed to eat sweet snacks. All we could have were fruits or vegetables. When we made homemade peanut butter she left out the sugar because she said it was more healthy that way, but it tasted horrible.
Rachel Mitchel was actually in my sister, Ashante's class with Neva and Ryan and Mary Anne, but she was my age. We were always pretending especially when we were up at the Exchange waiting for our mums to get off of work. I always thought she knew way more than she should have at that age, but then again she did have older siblings. She got transferred to Sigonella.
Principle Barbara or something like that, with her "Pride and Dignity" speeches. The Jimmy Palmer crush that every girl had. Our softball team that was so unequally balanced my first year playing. The ferry trips we had to take in the morning to get over from Palau side to La Madd side. Signora Shimabukaro, our Japanese "Italian" teacher. The school pets Goldie, Snowball, Sandstorm, and Lucky who wasn't so lucky. I remember arriving in Italy and people referring to that dog in the past tense because he got hit by a car or something and then there was some little boy who kept calling every dog Lucky until my sister brutally told him that Lucky was dead and wasn't coming back. The influx of the Scottish kids, Gary, Lisa, and Scott. I remember playing kickball and Gary accidently ran his head right into Chris McQuiggin's mouth and knocked out parts of his two front teeth. Who can forget the Marys (Maryrose, Marytess, and Maryanne Jenkins) who by the way live right down the street from me here in Tallahassee. How I remember all of this I do not know, but whoever reads this and went to Vista Mare is sure to remember some of this.
