I started working in the pharmaceutical field a year after graduating from Vashon high school in 1986 at Medicare Glaser at that time a retail pharmacy in St. Louis Missouri. I started at entry level. I was a Pharmacy Clerk, in charge of great Customer Service, ordering and stocking over the counter drugs, making sure the cash register was balanced each evening. I then started ordering prescription drugs and restocking and rotating the shelves while keeping inventory. I¿ll never forget the Pharmacy Student that took time out to train me Pharmacy Operations. She taught me how to read and process a prescription order. I soon started caring out more technical function of the pharmacy. I was entering, filling and filing prescription calling Doctors for refills, and ordering Rx inventory, under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist. 1987 I decided to further my education, I enrolled in a 1 year Pharmacy Technician Program at United College, some of the courses: Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Medical terminology, Pharmacology, Sick room supplies, I finished 3rd in my class. I moved back to Milwaukee WI, in 1990, I then worked as a pharmacy technician at a retail pharmacy for Melvin Solocheck a Registered Pharmacist. Mel closed his retail pharmacy to open at Isaac Coggs a Health Care Center. I became pharmacy manager; designed and stocked the pharmacy trained and hired staff. He and I were trained on a new computer system. We filled an average of 500 prescriptions a day for the Health Care Center. If a patient needed a stat refill I took the initiative to pull the chart, take it to the Doctor and get a written prescription. The patients loved the pharmacy and the service we provided.
