Andrew's Story
Life
Dear whomever it concerns,
This is dumb, but I've had a couple beers and the pump is primed. Let's get loose, shall we?
I've missed all the VHS class of 93 reunions, so I I'm outta the loop with all but the kids who moved to the city and come across my path. I don't see many of them on this sight. What follows is the skinny on my life since 93.
In 93 went to UW as a music major, waiting for Lisa G. to graduate. Very low key. Got into computers and the early internet. 94 Lisa and I auditioned at CSU Long Beach and Arizona State. We both got scholarships to ASU so I transferred. Studied music like a madman for two years then decided I'd had enough of it all.
Moved back to Washington to build houses with my dad while I licked my wounds. That didn't last. Parents had moved down by Astoria Oregon, and I didn't like the vibe. Met up with Anaiah at Strawberry Fest in 96 and we roomied up in Seattle that fall. Took the year off to work, and steal calculus classes and arts lectures at the UW where I was readmitted to finish my BA in music theory and history in 97 graduating on the 5 year plan in 99.
Been working at the same job since 96 as a carpenter...Expand for more
/painter/foreman. It was a college type job at first, but now it's grown into a half-assed career. Still haven't put out that music though I have a semi-respectable studio in progress and I practice, compose, and catch shows from our mutual Vashonites in the city for inspiration. Looking forward to a renaissance, career-wise.
Met a lovely British girl in 97 through Anaiah's girlfriend at the time. Dana and I were married this year after a very long engagement (sorry, love!). We've owned a house in West Seattle for five years. It's just up the road from the Fauntleroy dock. I'd love to move back to the island someday, but this is working for now. We just remodeled the kitchen so we're here for a while.
I guess I've changed a bit since the Vashon days. I've learned to lay off the maxims and explore different realms of experience. I've explored: Not as far, or as maxed out as some, but some. I keep up with a gaggle of classmates (Jason C. brokered my mortgage), but I'm throwing this up here for the folks I haven't seen since 93. Anyways, I hope you're all doing what you want to do, or working towards that day. Much peace to you all.
