Angela's Story

Life I am entering my second year back in Gratiot County! I have survived the transition (for the most part) from a citified country-girl back to a countrified city-girl. I still travel to Detroit often to visit friends and hopefully this spring I will be able to play rugby again with my old team! I spend a lot of my time traveling the US visiting friends. When I am in town I like to spend time with my family and have a few beers with the locals. I coach high school volleyball at Breckenridge in the winter, and women's rugby at CMU in the fall. If I recover from my dislocated shoulder injury, I plan on coming out of retirement and begin playing with Detroit in the spring. College Classmates.com has prompted me to remember my "unique" roommate. Well, if you know me from MSU and are reading this, I think we all remember my "unique" roommate. Enough said. Ha! And if you lived with me I bet you are wondering if I am referring to you... I had quite a few roommates in college, mostly due to the fact I changed majors mid-way through my sophomore year and left my enginerd friends behind to explore the acedemic (and social!) world of the College of Agriculture. Starting out engineering is always a good idea so you can set the pace for your GPA. st year was not so representative of my overall achievements. Agronomy Club was my favorite. We had a nice, tight knit group that was pretty active. Sigma Alpha was a positive experience for the most part. I still go on annual trips with some of those girls. Proud to say I still talk to quite a few people from my freshman floor in Rather Hall. Jessica B. and Howie - it will be 13 years in August! Since I have moved around a lot for work and started out with a fairly public career, I've been able to keep in touch with quite a few people from the College of Agriculture. When I moved to Detroit, I found a majority of my non-aggie friends from school lived there and we were able to reunite. I don't think about college much, but it would be nice to have a little class of 1998 reunion sometime! Workplace After leaving my university extension gig in Detroit, I spent just over a year freelancing for a PBS children's show as an assistant producer (aka event coordinator and personal slave to producer). I also worked as an assistant manager at a gourmet grocery store at this time. It was a ton of fun, and much different than working for the university, but after my freelance work ended I decided to ditch the city and move closer to my family again. Hello Gratiot County! Now I'm employed by Pioneer Hi-Bred as a research associate in Ithaca.
