Angela's Story

The year 2008¿. The year brought the first year of business from a new office and shop to Hennen Construction. April - We celebrated with an open house for business associates, family and friends. Steve worked though the winter to do finish work in the office and shop with his business partners. They put a lot of sweat equity into it by laying all of the ceramic tile though-out the whole office and in the shop office, including office kitchen, bathrooms and shop office and bathroom. They also built a loft in the shop for storage and a wash-bay in the shop. Steve painted a partial area of the shop floor with epoxy and built a work-bench. With all this happening over the winter there was no tropical vacation for us! The night of the open house I had already planned to attend a birthday get together, for a friend¿s 40th. With the open-house being already set with invites out I made it to both, by sending all the guys to the open house and then leaving it early to make the hike from Clear Water to Maple Grove Benihanna¿s where us girls had a fantastic time with the entertaining chef making our meals in front of us. We all really enjoyed the food! After-ward we met up with the guys for cocktails at our house. May ¿ Baseball season-comes and we are going to a lot of Twins Games though-the summer. The beginnings of more landscaping work as we continue to re-do and finish other projects in the yard. June - Brought the loss of Steve¿s sister Janelle, just two weeks short of her 78th birthday. Winsted Country Festival brought severe weather just as Reba was about to take stage and left us all at the mercy of our campers and vehicles! Highly Dangerous, but by time we knew we were in a weather alert the event would not allow anyone out of the gates. July - brought the wedding of Steve¿s youngest sister¿s son. Twins Games - Country Jam: was quite the scene this year! We got flooded out up to our knees in water as a severe weather system came though the annual three day music festival. We also had a surprise when Rascal Flatts, the top group for several years in a row in Country Music, extended their stage out to our six row seats, making our seats first row and pushing the others out to the sides! Taylor Swift, the hottest new top artist, was touring with them so we had first row with her also. I enjoyed the rare opportunity to shake her hand as well as the lead singer¿s hand of Rascal Flatts. August - brought again; another annual theme camping trip. This time we had a Hawaiian theme of cuisine and cocktails. The first birthday of my sister¿s first grandchild and grandson was celebrated with a big get-together at her new home in Savage, MN. September - We took Sam & Jake for an over-night to our house for quality time with the rug-rats! Jason and Nina made an announcement; they are engaged to be married and we attended the-out-door wedding ceremony and reception of our camping friends, daughter. More Twins Games as their season ends once again without a playoff season. We are looking forward to experiencing the new Twin Stadium, but not the exposure to the elements! October - we had an exciting Halloween when Steve brought home from the shop one of the trailers to pull behind our neighbors Oliver Tractor with hay bails. We had seven kids and eight adults riding along through our neighborhood while the kids had their treats we had our mugs with our treats! The driver was not having treats. LOL!!! This will be the last year these kids will be Trick-or Treating. They are all 12 and over! The neighbor hood is getting old. LOL Again! November - Steve and I turned a whole year older. Stefanie wanted to go out to eat, for dad¿s birthday, so we went to a local place called the River Inn. I surprised Steve with some added guests to our table that he wasn¿t expecting. It was a great time to share some time with friends with a last minute get-together on a weekday night, but it was a short one. We had a short night with them on my birthday just five days later. It was nice to have them take time out of their week-day night for our birthdays! Thank you. December already! Wow, this year went faster then recent past years. We celebrated Christmas with the kids on Saturday, the 20th. (Yes, I am behind on this letter! My lap-top computer has been down since July. My patience, as well as my arthritic body can¿t take sitting at the desk top in the office. There¿s nothing like taking the pressure of the pressure points in a recliner! ) After diagnostics on the fried computer, Steve & I bought a new one for our Christmas gift to our self¿s. Jake¿s Birthday was celebrated with a Pre-holiday/Birthday party at Josh & Cindy¿s house. This Christmas I had to get structured to provide a space for all the kids to play. With Josh & Cindy¿s boy¿s, our grandchildren, Sam ¿ 5 and Jake - 3; Jason & Nina with her two boy¿s Preston ¿ 6 and Nathan ¿ 5; Ryan has been dating Jamie for nine months and she has Jason ¿ 3; Justin in a new relationship for about three months now after the break-up of his six year high school sweet-heart and three year promise-engagement, he is dating Nikki with son, CJ (Charles Junior) ¿ 3. Steve got a Weather Radio for Christmas! I am planning on having it handy on future camping/music festival trips! The latest on what the kids are up to¿.. Josh is still working on finishing his house and masters degree. The new siding is on the house now and some of the inside trim work is finished. Steve took out the turn circle drive way for them this summer. Then the landscape was re-done with sod. Josh & Cindy bought a family membership to Life Time Fitness to keep the family in-shape. They keep busy with their two boys and careers. On weekends during the summer they visit grandma in Aiken, MN and then grandma and grandpa in Olivia, MN. These locations are very opposite of each other and long drives. Then they still have us to get too! Jason is still living ten miles away, but after for-closer he has moved to a rental house. A May wedding is planned in Mazatlan, Mexico for Jason & Nina after a three year courtship. Stefanie just started working on her masters and is considering becoming a Professor to teach law enforcement, as she has recognized that her career as an office of the law isn¿t something that she wants¿ for her life if she gets married and has a family some day. She has her town home listed for sale. She is very tired of her 45 minute drive to work. Ryan is still in the National Guard but been home since returning from Iraq in October of 2007. He will be going for active duty at Camp Ripley in Minnesota, for two weeks in January, to help train soldiers that are being deployed to Iraq. It doesn¿t look likely that he would be deployed again for war in Iraq or Afghanistan. He continues to be a weekend warrior with skills training monthly until his six year commitment is finished in three more years. Justin moved from Coon Rapids to Otsego just recently. Now, he is just ten miles away! Maybe, he will visit his mother more often, now. He has some crazy work hours ...Expand for more
that make it difficult to visit. Weekends: Mon. through Fri. 11 AM to 8 PM. Mikey - I must include in this category as he is definitely one of the kids. He is the most spoiled dog alive! He get¿s fed way to well, on his all human diet of lean meats, low-fat dairy, vegetables and whole grains. However, he thinks he deserves the naughty foods we eat too! He has us well trained to wait on him hand-and-foot. He is a great communicator, in other words, he is very demanding. We figured it out that we have a two year old for his life time! I still love him and couldn¿t live with-out him. He¿s the cutest thing ever and has blessed Steve and I in our life. We will live longer because of him! Now that¿s a blessing! Many blessings to you And your family for this ¿Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!¿ God bless, Steve & Angela Hennen OLD POSTING BELOW... Life Remarried to a local business owner, sewer & water construction, in 1999. Steve and I built our home in the locol area; and moved in December of 1994. Steve - is eight years my senior and looks great for his ripe old age. He's a work-aholic. With over 35 years of experience in Sewer & Water Construction he has developed great skill in the operation of heavy equipment. A long with that talents he's put sweat equity into the building of our home. He finished two levels of our four level home and planted all the trees, shrubs, grass ect on our lot. He built retainer walls, poured the sidewalks and finished the interior of his toy room; 40 X 50 high cieling shed with a loft as well! He planted a garden every year; until recently we've given that up! He's now using those talents to finish a office in side of the new shop that was just completed this winter (2008). A separate building was built for their office. The business has been relocated to a newly built office this year. I have two children from my first marriage to a classmate. Ryan - is now 25 Trained in the National Gaurd in 2005 after spending some time in college. He has been working at Arby's in Elk River, inbetween training for the gaurd and while attending college at Anoka Ramsey Community College. UPDATE: (It's now March 28th 2007 and Ryan has been in Iraq, since November 27th. He left for New Jersey for special training to be deployed to Iraq on September 11th of 06. I spent Nov. 20 -24th with him touring New York City on his five day leave before flying out.) Ryan returned from Iraq on October 11th of 2007; safely! He is now trying to figure out what he is going to do with his life. He is still pulling some hours at Arby's; after going to war????!!!! Justin - is 21 years old. He attending Anoka Technical College, to become a mechanic and is now working in a garage. He has been engaged to be married for the last three years. Jenny and Justin are high school sweet-hearts. My stepchildren have brought great joy and, of course all the pains of a blended family. Josh - is 33, married with two boys, Samuel: age 4; Jake, age 2. Josh is a college graduate of St. Josephs and currently working on a masters in Marketing. He works as a financial analist. I am in love with my grandchildren! Jason - is 30, unmarriedand works as a Ceramic Tile Setter for Union Company. He has been in a relationship for with a single mom of two for the past three years. Stefanie - is 25, moved out of our house fall of 2005, into her own town home after living with us for two years. She graduated 2006 with her Batchlors Degree in Law Enforcement. She was a community service officer full time for the city of Maple Grove and completed her police skills in the summer of 2006 in Alexandria. She is now employed as a Police Officer for "The City of Hopkins. Her career goal is to become an investigator, possibly work with the FBI, someday. I am very proud of her, as if I was her mother. She is a very pretty femine girl with a tomboy side. Plenty of attitude! The profession is her. Steve and I enjoy our free time camping, going to music festivals and travel abroad. Mexico is becoming a regular destination. We married on the Island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Our caldesac of groupie neighbors keep us busy with many social activities. Regular bon-fires, theme camping trips, limo concerts at Xcel Energy, long underware parties! We have lots of fun. My business adventures have always been pretty independent. I enjoy working for myself. I graduated with a Chiropractic Technician diploma after having a family. The education and experience helped me become an owner of a 30 minutes excersise facility. I ran my own cleaning business, also. I am now a early retiree with a lot of health issues. Lot's of arthritis, hernited disk, spinal stenosis, calcium deposits and scar tissue in the knee's. What can I say I am falling apart! I have always been the home econmist type. Flower gardening, potting flowers, vegetable gardening. With an apple orchard and strawberry patch my husband and I hang on to traditional good food! We can and freeze. I love to decorate and plan on sewing more and crocheting in free time. We are currently updating our house with some remodling. I am buying a Shih Tzu male puppy to keep me company now that I am going through empty nest syndrom. I am enjoying get organized around the house. I love to spend time on the computer organizing my schedule, addresses, recipes and love the interactive Weight Watchers sight. My favorite TV show right now is Desparate Housewifes. It's on my calender! Bird watching is my morning activity while sipping a latte'. Coffee is my crutch! I would love to hear about you, also. So please tell me how are you doing? Angie School My biggest crush; as announced at the 20 year class reunion on my page was Ron Dube. I also had a big crush on Ray Davis, in junior high. The teacher that inspired my the most was my 9th grade Algebra teacher Mr. Wineman. His help in study halls helped my get a B in the class or I would have failed it while all my other classes I got straigt A's!!!! Tereasa Klevin hitting Gene-O Thompson over the head with a pile of books in the 7th or was it the 8th grade. My name was put in the school newspaper for having the most perfectly feathered hair in the school. Unfortunely, I can't say that I had any happiest memory. Life was very difficult for me in back in high school days. College Dragging myself to class wasn't because of all-nighters or college parties! I was a single parent of two when I decided to continue my education. I had to drag to small children to daycare at 6:30 am and then drive to St. Cloud, where I attended at the Technical College to earn my diploma as a "Chiropractic Technician." I wish I would have went to a real college and earned a BA in Marketing and Business Managemnet. However, all the experience I gained threw various jobs, self-education and the college helped me tremenousely! What I get paid to do is in the past! Ecxept the retired part. Now, I get allowance for taking care of everyday household stuff. LOL! I feel like a kid with a parent.....HA..Ha. But I'am good at spending!!!
