Angie's Story
Life
My life as of December 30, 2007.
I'm married to a wonderful man. We've been together since my Junior year in High School. We have two boys, ages 15 and 8. We're a very happy family.
Now for the other part of my life that means a lot to me. Two years ago our city built an Animal Shelter. I helped to organize one of the first fundraisers it had. A motorcycle Poker Run. We raised right at $2000. Since then I've helped at several other fundraisers, made a trip to take a three legged dog to "Rescue", and spent over 150 hours at the Shelter doing volunteer time. I can't stress enough how much this cause means to me. We have a HUGE overpopulation of animals in our city, and people just don't seem to realize how important it is to spay/neuter. Until they do, we will continue to have to euthanize every month. People ask me how I can go out, spend time with the animals, only to know that they might be euthanized...Expand for more
. And my answer is, it's not easy. But it makes me feel worse to think that the animals aren't given as much attention as POSSIBLE before their time is up. After all, we wouldn't won't to see a human lay in a hospital bed, near the end of their life, with only hospital staff as visitors. To me, the animals are equally important. People can't tell me that animals don't have the want of love like humans do. I have went in, sat in kennel with a dog that has never met me, and had that dog curl up in my lap, or rest it's head on my shoulder to be as close to human comfort and love as possible. It's the most rewarding volunteer work I have ever done. I could go on and on but I won't. I can only say that I hope our city keeps up the progress until we have NO unwanted animals in our streets.
