Ann's Story
Life:
All 7 of us Hamlin's that graduated Uniondale HS are alive: 3 sisters in UT, 1 in WA, 1 in ID, 1 brother in UT, and one brother in MA.
School:
I transferred to BYU in'65 from Adelphi College (in Nursing, but didn't finish in that major) I got married in 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. I graduated in 1970, the year before my husband John Neil graduated as a civil Engineer and went to work for UDOT in SLC.
Family:
A daughter, Kristen, joined Neil's Little Heaven in 1971, the year John graduated, and then we moved to SLC, to a little rental house with a fenced yard and garage for $100 month. In 3 yrs we bought our 1st home for $19,000.
Sold it 7 yrs later for $63,000 and bought our current home where Ann's Mom lived with us, and we adopted 3 siblings from El Salvador, Jenny, Annie, and Carlos.
Grandchildren:I have 6 (+ one on the way 2015)(plus 2 step g-dau who went with their dad when he divorced my dau. Jenny couple yrs ago. 7 yrs being their Nana doesn't just go away. We still maintain contact.)
Work:
I'm retired from work as a 3rd gr. aide,at a nearby elementary school. I love working with children in reading and math, at least 50% being hispanic in our area.
I 'm no longer a Creative Memories Consultant on the side;my daughter Kristen following in my scrapbook passion, which has now gone digital with Picaboo printing my books.
Health:

I joined Q Sciences as an IBO (Independent Business Owner). Trips:
Hawaii : John and I have been to Oahu, Maui,and Kauai. Beautiful experience.

Church:
We are so appreciative of the Savior's sacrifice for us, so we may return again to live in Heavenly Father's presence after we die. Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God, and Creator of this world, and Jehovah of the Old Testament. All the prophets have proclaimed his coming and the reason for it...to Save the world if they would come unto Him and keep His commandments, thus obtaining eternal happiness.
We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. The Old Testament prophecies of the coming of Christ. The New Testament Proclaims His Life and teachings:the Son of God, who gave His life that we may live. The Book of Mormon is a 2nd Witness Testifying of the Savior as the Son of God.
Book of Mormon:
600 years before the birth of Jesus Christ, there was a prophet named Lehi in Jeruselem. He was warned by God to take his family (and later a friend's family, to provide wives for his sons)and flee to preserve their lives. They went south (after going back for the family records... scriptures) to the shore, and built a ship to sail across the ocean to the Americas.
This remnant of the House of Israel kept records carved into Gold plates, of their dealings with god. All of their prophets foretold of the coming of Christ. On the Day he was born they, too, saw a new star in the heavens, and an even greater sign: a day,a night, and a day with no darkness. Later, they also had a sign of His death...Earthquakes, and tumult, towns and cities destroyed, and 3 days of darkness. A year after his death, after His ascension, He came to this side of the world and walked among his other Sheep, the Lamanites and Nephites, healing their sick, blessing their childen,calling 12 Disciples to lead His church there, and teaching them the Sermon on the Mount. There was peace for 200 years after the Savior left.
But 400 yrs had not passed away before the people were at war and had a great battle wiping out the Nephites, leaving only Lamanites. The last remaining Nephite Prophet, Moroni, wandered many years, finally ending up in Palmyra NY and burying the gold plates (an abridgement made by his Dad, Mormon)in a hill named Cummorah, knowing that the Lord would bring it forth in the future to testify to the world of the divinity of Jesus Christ..
That happened when Joseph Smith was directed to their location. He retrieved the gold plates, translated them to English, and published the Book Of Mormon.I have read this book and prayed about it, and know it is true. It is scripture from God.
