Ann's Story
Hello everyone from Saint Peter's class of 1965. Wow that was a long time ago. You may notice that my name is Julie, which was my middle and Strauss since I married in 1973. I live in New City, NY. I have 2 grown children my Son Marc is37 married 9 years and has two amazing little boys, my Grandsons. They are the joy in my life. My Daughter Sarah is 30 who is a substitute teacher in NJ mostly in Bergen County, and still single. I met my husband at my first job in NYC in 1971 and we married in 1973. I stopped work after my Son was born in 1978 to stay home and raise my children. I've had a wonderful life, of course everyone has ups and downs but for the most of my life I've been very happy. Now at the age that I'm at I enjoy spending time with family and especially my Grandsons. You may remember I came from Hungary in 1956 and spoke no English. Just my Parents and Brother. My husband has 3 wonderful Sisters who all consider me their "Little Sister". I have Nieces and Nephews and they all have babies, toddlers and even a teenager. re I married my husband who is Jewish. My children have had Bar and Bat Mitzvah's and we follow all the Jewish Holidays. Of course when my children were little we celebrated Christian Holidays with my Parents. Quite a shocker a girl brought up Catholic went to Catholic school and converts. The truth is I have no regrets. Was difficult for my Mother at first, but very soon realized my husband came from a large, very loving and devoted family. Both my In-Laws passed away 30 years ago and my Father 9 years ago, 2 months before Marc's Wedding. Happiest and worst times of our lives. To all of us family was and still is everything. My hobbies are gardening out and indoors. My living room is like an Atrium. I like to crochet, everyone in the family has either scarfs or blankets. Lately I've been enjoying face book because I've reconnected with some very dear friends and hope to connect with more friends from my past. The one regret I have is not keeping in touch with friends once we moved from Belleville in 1071. Perhaps now is my chance. Quite a lot to take in.
