Nancie Ann's Story

Life Whoops... looks like my work bio is my life bio! Better read that first! Didn't see this part. Well I did have a lot of fun working and lots more fun in between work. I have been married for 28 years to my first (and I guess by now must be my final, LOL) husband. I met my husband at work, he was the CFO working on his Masters in Finance at the time (something I know NOTHING about and if I hadn't had the opportunity to look at Paul D'Alassandro's final exam paper in Geometry I would still be at NCCH! I will always remember you for that kindness Paul LOL). This just shows you that opposites do attract! No kids, but had some wonderful pets that are no longer with me..well I take that back.. ashes, ashes everywhere.. they are going with me when I go,(have to order little pockets for my coffin to fit their little tins in!) Now..still in the same house too for 26 years..I love the computer and I love to go to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods and the Borgata in Atlantic city..and I am NOT lucky at all.. it is sort of my local version of Disney World for me. Hey fantasy is fantasy! Check out the school photo album for some yearbook stuff! OHMAGAWD were we ever that young and dorky? I really would LOVE to hear from anyone who remembers our years at NCCH and wants to swap some old memories. Workplace Started out doing legal transcriptions at the Division of Youth Services, Parole Board. Moved on to temp work at Staff Builders & was the first to be trained by them as a Word Processor & Electronic Composer (reel to reel no less and NO screen! and that was "cutting edge at the time!) Subsequently worked years as one of the only IBM Word Processors around. Meanwhile, I passed the State Police Exam, interviews, physicals, etc. and was to be appointed but then the head of the State Police was indicted (Giles) & all records, including candidate files, were sealed & no...Expand for more
woman appointed within the time frame! (Probably would have killed myself anyway since I really couldn't drive the mandatory stick shift..LOL) Was trained in theater and improvisational comedy - did some TV specials, ads, movie extra work, theater & spokesperson modeling in Boston and many voice overs and character voices in radio advertising and children's tapes. Worked at the Committee on Criminal Justice many years as THE word processing department (guess they were expensive machines back then), this time with mag tape cards (wow an upgrade!.) Taught at Barbizon School of Modeling and Acting and also at Northeast Broadcasting School, both in Boston. Worked with Norm Nathan and his morning show at WRKO(Boston) writing and voicing comedy bits. Produced and hosted "A Shot of Phythm and Blues" as Vox Foxi (Roots of Rock R&B) at various stations in Boston (WMEX), Lawrence (WCGY), Marshfield(WATD) Brockton(WBET). Announcer/Personality for format at Boston stations as Nancie Mann: WMRE, WMEX, WRKO, WJDA and a couple of Providence RI stations as well. Did Talk Radio at WKOX in Framingham ("On the Level"), with a contractor - it was about home building and repairs (yup, I can fix a toilet with the best of 'em). Opened a Gallery on Newbury Street: "Mann Gallery" for Figurative Sculptures and Fine Crafts. After 7 years I closed the gallery (3 years ago), threw myself into cyberspace and computing and now have a few "virtual galleries" and shops on the net. Have another business (just me!)that has been running simultaneously for 20 years (the Executive Branch) as a Certified Court Transcriber for the Trial Courts of the Commonwealth. Oh..and I have had a few other jobs in between! LOL... I am sometimes asked how many lives I had to live to fit it all in.. it does feels like: you name it, I've been there...done that... Ahh..the thirst for knowledge that was not there in high school!
