Time to update on events though nothing is earth shattering at the present. My husband and I are actually enjoying some quiet time at our cottage on Manchester Beach on Lake Erie. We usually rent the cottage for the summer but this year decided to take some time for ourselves. I continue to in my career in music. For the past twenty-three years, I have been the Director of the Warren County Summer Music School (wcsms.org) in Warren, PA. This is a multi-disciplinary arts school which offers a wide range of classes for students entering grade five through adult learners. It takes place in June for a three week period and is funded through a variety of grants and student tuitions. We have a very progressive faculty and our students accomplish in three weeks what students accomplish during a semester in public school. MNA'TRI' (women three) is the professional chamber music trio (flute cello and piano) that I perform with in northwestern PA. We recently commissioned a piece by James Sclater "The Harp of the Dagda" which will be given its premier later this winter. We are currently coaching at Chautauqua with Richard Sherman and hope that is is the first of many pieces we will commission for this instrumentation. On another note, my husband and I have commissioned a new work for flute and orchestra by the British composer, Laurence Roman, to be premiered during the 2013 season at Chautauqua. The soloist will be my mentor and coach, Richard Sherman. We are very honored to be able to add a new work to the flute repertoire and excited by the prospect of having Laurence Roman stateside for the premier.
