Anna's Story
It's difficult to say that my life has been blessed, but it has. There are times when it does not feel like it, but I believe there are blessings in everything that comes our way whether negative or positive. Yes, there has been alot of positive, but I have had many challenges.
I retired from the University of Texas at Austin about 2 years ago. I was doing my own private practice in psychotherapy for about a year and a half. Due to some medical problems, I had decided that was about all I could do. However, the medical problems were resolved with God's help and I am now back at near 150% (near normal). I have 2 neices and 2 nephews, and 1 grand neice and 1 grand nephew. My brother is alive and well. My parents are now both deceased. I never married, but am in a long-term committed relationship.
I learned alot about myself through working with people with disabilities. I think God had this in mind when he allowed disabilities. The hardest lesson for me is learning to love myself. As an abused child, I carry the scars of low self-esteem, depression, and insecurity. I continue to work to overcome these in my daily life with God's help.
