Anna's Story
Okay everyone, here's the deal - huddle in close & I'll try not to bore you while I share the story of my life after high school. For starters, I'm a Virgo with Leo rising and I'd probably still be wearing the same lipstick color if it hadn't been discontinued, although I still have the same lipstick brush I bought in the 60's and I've collected most of the sunglasses I bought over the years. I DID throw away the 40 yr old umbrella & the old pillow. Some things you just have to get rid of.
In Dec, 1959, I became a single mom. A couple of years later (1962), I married Richard Phegley. We've been married 47 years, well except for when we divorced then remarried a year or two later. Besides my first born, Michael, I have two other children, a daughter, Anamari and another son, Russell.
Through the years, I've worked in banking and the oil business, have been employed by politicians and lawyers including 8 yrs with the City Attorney's office. I have portrayed a juror in a movie filmed in Houston and was a murder suspect in a play, Murder My Sweet, given at a Sisters In Crime convention. Oh, and did I mention that I was once Vice Pres of a bullfight club? (don't ask, this was in the 60's & I don't remember).
Since 1982 I've been involved w...Expand for more
ith Romance Writers of America(RWA), Mystery Writers of America & Sisters In Crime. I served as both Pres and V.P of the NW Houston & West Houston chapters of RWA & have conducted writing workshops & participated in Literacy programs.
I've written & published three novels, one romantic suspense under my pseudonym, Raine Hollister, which won several national awards, was a Golden Heart finalist for RWA & also made the Waldenbooks Best Seller list. I wrote two other romances under my other alias, Reyna Rios. I also ghostwrote a non-fiction book for a famous pet psychic who is a TV & radio personality.
In Feb of 2008, my husband had a stroke and I stopped writing while I helped him & my kids get through the trauma. We've had a couple of rough years but he's doing better and I'm at last able to get back to doing what I love -- writing about smart, hunky guys and strong, savvy women. I'm presently working on two novels: a romantic/comedy mystery and another Romantic Suspense.
My family became used to my book deadlines, especially when I'd say, "We can either eat out or starve in." :-)
If you're on Face Book, look me up -- I'm under Anna Phegley
P.S. My husband died on July 8, 2010 (a day after his birthday) -- we were married 48 1/2 years..
