Anne's Story
Life
I married Joe Reeves, who graduated with us in 1975, on June 14, 2003, in Santa Fe, NM, and am very happy! We just repeated our vows on our fifth anniversary, in the same mission ruins where we were married. We didn't even really know each other in school, but he is the love of my life. I've been divorced twice and remain friends with #2. Joe and I bought a 100 yr old historic home, that we are restoring, in Ada, and we love it. I had breast cancer a few years ago, but seem to be doing great now. I'd like to hear from others who have had it, too. Moved to Ada in Aug. 2001, with my youngest two (at that time...have adopted more). We have 7 kids, all of them very cool, one of them in heaven, my son, Richard. Plan to live in Ada for a few years, to get a little grandparent help with the kids, prior to our dream move to the Santa Fe/Pecos/Espanola, NM, area, where I spent so much time growing up. We're on target for a summer 2011 move, which will be permanent. Kids are sons, Atlee Hickerson (28), a business man, at Keely Electronics, where his clients include Peter Frampton, John Mayer, Bonnie Raitt and others. Atlee is married to Kim, a wonderful person who works in advertising, for Oklahoma Today magazine. Son, Ethan H. (17), is a Senior and honor student at AHS and is a great person, amazing skateboarder, and super talented guitarist and public speaker. Daughters are Gabriella H. (23), a chronic, serious cardiac patient, who has chosen ECU, to remain close to Joe and I, as a forensic psychology major, on an honors academic scholarship, who also, inspite of everything, is a Pontotoc County Deputy Sherriff (the most gorgeous one they've ever had); Faith Reeves, 19, a budding writer and artist, has graduated HS and is going to Vo-Tech and hostessing at Prairie Kitchen; Evann R., 11, a fourth grader and currently an in-patient for 4-12 months of child psych, then will go to Latta, and she's a gymnastics, football and reading maniac, though she is autistic; and Terrin...Expand for more
R., 9, a third grader at Washington, and a dance princess, also into gymnastics, reading and piano. Both the younger girls are neurologically impaired due to FAS, but they are amazing! They are bio siblings that we had as foster children in 2004, then were able to adopt. They are so cute, and both the size of 5 year olds! I'm the Chief Nursing Officer at Coal County General Hospital in Coalgate; and am Board Certified in Hospice and Palliative nursing, psychiatrics, home health, and geriatrics. Into metaphysics, Tibetan Buddhism, music, Judaism, family, friends, travel, natural health and nutrition, yoga, fun, constant educational pursuits, and enjoying life. Last year Joe and I got to study for three days with none other than His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, in L.A. I reared my 3 bio kids as Jews, and we're rearing our 2 youngest as Buddhists. We may be weird, but we're fun! We are voting for Barack Obama...even have a sign in our yard! I'm pro-family, and believe that family is whatever you design yours to be. Pro Gay-Marriage, Pro- adoption, and while listing some controversial pros, pro legalization of marijuana. Yet, all that said, also Pro-Life! I believe that ALL life is sacred. If you don't get how that jives with Sen. Obama, I'll give you my take. Write to me, about anything!
School
I graduated from Ada High School in 1975, having moved to Ada in the 4th grade, and attending Willard and AJHS. After HS, I attended ECU for a couple of years, then went to OU, where I received my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. (GO SOONERS...and hey, doesn't Adrian Peterson just ROCK?!?!!!! We'll continue to watch any team he plays for!) (And, speaking of football...I LOVE THE STEELERS!!) I have begun 2 Master's programs, but not finished either one: linguistics and anthropology/archaeology. Maybe one day I will finish one! I attended 2nd and 3rd grades at Madison in Norman, 1st at Bluestem in Dewey, and K at Lincoln, also in Dewey/Bartlesville.
