Annette's Story
Life
Born in St. Croix Falls, WI on August 31, 1973. I grew up on a dairy farm just outside of Centuria, Wisconsin north of Long Lake. I attended Unity Schools K-12 grade and graduated in June 1991. I then went on to college at Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, Missouri on a basketball scholarship. I eventually transferred to Univ. of Wisconsin at River Falls where I met my husband Sam Nesius. We both graduated in December of 1996 and then were married in St. Croix Falls, WI on November 1, 1997. We lived in New Richmond, WI after we married and I began working at Unity School in Balsam Lake, WI as a substitute teacher / coach for basketball and softball. Eventually I took a full-time position as the K-5 Emotional Behavior Disorders Teacher for special education and continued to coach. After 1 yr. of full-time teaching my husband was accepted into the Officer Candidate School for the United States Navy and future aviator. As a result we moved to Pensacola, Florida. While in P-Cola I worked at an eyeglass shop fitting people fo...Expand for more
r glasses. We then moved to Corpus Christi, TX after his completion of OCS and his primary flight training. While in TX I taught 5th grade in Beeville at Thomas Jefferson Int. School. We then moved back to Florida for advanced flight training and I was lucky enough to get my old job back at the eyeglass store. I ended up becoming the assistant manager there. After Sam received his "wings" we moved to San Diego, CA for his "rag" instruction in the CH-46 Helicopter. While in San Diego I taught in Del Mar at a private school for students with special needs. After Sam finished the rag we moved to Chesapeake, VA where he was stationed at NAS Norfolk and HC-8. I have taught special education for students with emotional / behavioral disorders at Great Bridge Int. School for the past 2 yrs. We will be expecting our first child in the beginning of October. We will then be moving back to FL in March 2005 where Sam will be a flight instructor for the next 3 yrs. I plan to stay at home and be a full-time mom and will do some private tutoring on the side.
