Anthony's Story
Life
Let's see ... Life remains busy, though mostly due to school related activities. I just wrapped up the first two years of med school, took the first part of my licensing exam and am now back in the lab to try and figure out this whole graduate degree stuff. I'll likely remain in the Seattle area for at least the next three years, with the occasional relocation for whatever clinical training I have left to experience. The cat turns 12 this August and seems to be running more reliably than my truck at times, so it could be interesting to see which one gives out first.
Previous to my return to school, I was involved with various medical research activities, starting with the Immunex continuation, though that was more of a janitorial job much of the time. In 1995, I started on several Orthopaedics related projects at UW, somehow actually utilizing my undergraduate degree whilst persisting with my medical school applications (yes, I meant the plural ... you'll need to contact me and I can share the story over a beer sometime). al volunteer groups, including a local Jaycees chapter (Google it ... supposedly the nations best kept secret community development organization, which really isn't that great a thing for volunteer groups ... but oh well); Seattle Rape Relief (first and only time I've been fired as a volunteer, though technically it was a disbanding of the volunteer pool) which turned into being a founding member of Communities against Rape and Abuse (CARA ... apparently one needs to google that too). Learned more than I really thought possible about non-profits and "managing" people/large budgets. There is other stuff in there, but I'll leave it for the unauthorized biographers to dig up later.
I still own the bicycle and have added two more, though the streets of Seattle are a little less conducive to some of the riding I was doing in Spokane. That and I've slowed down a little due to my metabolism finally slowing down enough for me to put on weight and getting lazy about the time I do spend on the bike. That's slowly changing now though, so wish me luck in the injury avoidance arena.
