April's Story
Life
I live in Mackinaw, IL with my husband Scott and son Bryson. I work for Easter Seals as the director of Developmental and Autism Services. I have 4 cats and 1 dog.
College
I lived on an international floor for my first year where I roomed with two girls from Japan my first semester and then with a friend the next semester. It was a very interesting year as the two girls from Japan did not get along. My second year at Iowa State I moved off campus and was an active member of Alpha Phi. I had fun partying, being a part of VESHIA where Riots broke out and had a cop break down our front door as the Riots were happening in front of our house. Tear gas in the contacts hurt. And became a student ambassador for the college of family and consumer sciences.

oledo obtained a masters in Education and Early Intervention. During this time I actually learned what it meant to study. I spent most of my time in the Medical College of Ohio Library writting my thesis, but I met lots of great people who I anticipate being life long friends.

Workplace
I currently work Full-Time for Easter Seals as a Developmental Therapist. I work with children birth through age 3 who have delays or disabilities. My primary role is to provide parent education, training and support. I help parents learn how to play, interact, and how to be advocates for their children. I run a weekly playgroup for children 0-3, their parents and siblings.
I also teach 0-3 Brain Development at Heartland Community College in Normal, IL.
