Arlin's Story
Life
The Army has a bad habit of deploying husbands and wives at the same time leaving my in-laws to raise my 9 and 11 year old. So after 29 years, 11 months and 10 days I retired from active duty. My wife, an active duty nurse practitioner immediately accepted a duty assignment in Wiesbaden, Germany so I'm the dependent spouse, taking care of kids, learning German, teaching English, working out, running and wondering why I didn't do this YEARS ago!!

After getting the house put together here in Germany I started working as the substitute nurse for the Department of Defense Schools here in Wiesbaden. They needed a full time nurse for the last two months of the school year so until the middle of June I'm working full time as a school nurse. I had no idea how much I enjoyed retirement until the first day of work when I HAD to be there at 0730. Looking forward to being retired again and part time the middle of June.
