I'm a real success. (I consider anyone still alive at 73 a success.) In 66-67, I switched my major from pre-dental to wine, women and song and promptly flunked outta UMKC. Joined the USN Jan. 68, cuz I needed to straighten up. Got my draft notice 3 days later. Still haven't straightened up. Attended boot camp and tech schools for a year-plus; then spent 2 yrs in Sebana Seca, PR. From 5 wks-6 mos., depending, was in Norfolk VA; Wash DC; Winter Harbor ME; Nicosia, Cyprus; Rota, Spain; Bremerhaven, Ger; Edzell, Scotland (loved Edzell!). Also visited France, Italy, Greece, Switzerland, Holland. Never set foot on a ship; have wonderful memories and great stories. Wouldn't go back, though, if they gave me an aircraft carrier! Discharged early for school in 73; finally graduated dfrom CMSU (where I met Patmywife) in 75 and from American U. in DC in 76. Then slaved in newspapers and public relations until I retired from AR Farm Bureau end of ’08. In Little Rock since 78, a surprise, considering my family had about 32 addresses by the time I was 20. Am loving retirement! No deadlines to meet or information monster to feed. Haven't been inactive, though, just changed focus. Now, I do what I WANT! We have 2 grown kids, Adam and Annalee, both of whom I am extremely proud; a granddaughter Julianne, with a little bro/sis on the way. We're not rich, but not star...Expand for more
