Audrey's Story

Wow! Can any of you believe how fast time goes by when we are having fun?!?! Life is good for me and my family. We have definitely had some ups and downs, as any family does, but at least we've had more ups. My oldest daughter, Amber, is 21; Amanda is 20; and Austin is 14. Amber is in college, Amanda is currently working and Austin is in 9th grade. Also, Amanda had a baby girl, Audrina Kay, whom I am formally adopting and really enjoying. She is a gift and so happy to be in this world. She will be 1 year old on Jan. 29. So here I am, doing it over again and loving every minute of it! It is hard to believe I am a nana but I just accepted that and since then, all has been well. Currently, I am working at Children's Institute Inc. in Torrance, CA. I have quite a commute of approximately 50 miles from my house in Calabasas, which can get on my nerves at times. I try to time it so as not to hit the freeway at the wrong time or when everyone else hits it. :) Anyway, I am a psychological intern and will finally be a psychologist by August 2010 if I get my dissertation defended. What a process! 25 years in the making but almost done!! I received my Masters of Science in Clinical Psychology from University of La Verne; Masters of Arts In Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage Family Therapy from Pepperdine University; and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University of Nevada Las Vegas. doctorate in Clincal-Community Psychology from University of La Verne in mid 2010 if all works well for me(it should but one never knows). I enjoy working with individuals, especially children and adolescents. Most of the kiddos I work with come from disadvantaged backgrounds. I do home visits if necessary, work within the Head Start program for the little ones ages 3-5, provide individual and family therapy in the office, and have massive hours of supervision and training. That is what I do in a nutshell and boy, does it keep me busy. My hope is to help as many people in life as I can as I feel I have been fortunate only from the help of others and would like to repay the world in a positive way. When not working or being with my family, I enjoy spending time with all of my wonderful friends. I am always open to hearing from anyone I used to go to school with, was friends with, or wants to get re-aquainted. Although I do not have a tremendous amount of time to email, I am able to do so and would enjoy hearing from anyone interested. My interests include going to movies, baking, walking, beng around people, vacationing, shopping for myself and others, reading a good book, eating, spending time with friends and loved ones, sightseeing, drinking good coffee with a friend, drinking some good vino, and talking, of course. Some things never change!! Hope to hear from you all soon. Take care and have a good day!
