Barb's Story
Life
I've had a wild and crazy life with lots of twists and turns, but thankfully, I've always kept my sense of humor. I have my 2nd (and last) great hubby (the first is still our friend). I love to play in the dirt in summer, (gardening) decorate our English cottage (I find that I've become an anglophile now). I love everything English - mysteries, decor, and collecting English antiques.) Our house reflects English Country, and Steve can attest that he thinks he's in England when he's home. Kids are grown. Daughter is supervisor in hospital lab here. Son is patent attorney in Houston, Texas. We have two grandchildren, claimed by my daughter (on a good day), ages 13 and 18. Son has never married, but is looking. When he reminded me that men can have children no matter how old they are, I reminded him that he would be like Charlie Chaplin - have kids late in life, but be too old to pick them up. ecruiter/trainer for a non-profit private foster care agency for special needs kids. I enjoy this new position even more, since I get a chance to work with and get foster parents licensed by the state for placement of special needs children. We don't realize how fortunate we are. Plus I get to work from home, and that's terrific!
Had a heart attack in '06, and had to have a pacemaker/defibrillator installed. I was just glad to hear I was alive - Ha! Also have Congestive Heart Failure since my heart is so weak. But with God's help and lots of pills, I have come farther in a year than I thought I would. And I'm working harder than ever, it seems. This summer Someone Upstairs has hit a lot of folks in the head to help special needs kids. I hope that is any of you have a lot of patience, you will open your home to a child who needs you.
