Barbara's Story
Hey Everybody! I first have to say that I remember MANY of your names, but not much else about most unfortunately! I would love to hear from you, especially if we used to "hang out" together!
After graduating from AHS in January '70, I headed for Illinois State Univ. for 2 years. While there, I married another AHS alumni, Terry Haines (anyone heard anything from/about him?). As many really young people do, we divorced and I finished my education at University of Illinois in Champaign.
With my Advertising degree in hand, I began working in Media at Leo Burnett Adv. in Chicago. Stayed there for 8 years and then moved to Ogilvy & Mather in chicago, where I stayed for another 8 years. I also was remarried by then and had my first child at the ripe old age of 40!! Shortly before my son's birth, my husband was transferred to San Francisco, where I live today. d ready to head off to college next year. Unfortunately, his father and I divorced when he was 3, and I had the rewards and joy of raising my son all to myself! It was something I wouldn't trade for the world....the best thing that ever happened to me.
With a small child at home, my old job as Media Director was out of the question, so I took the night classes necessary to work in a field that I think I was really born to do...teaching. I now teach kindergarten at a private school in my neighborhood, home for all school holidays with my son, summers off for home improvements and travel with my son. The perfect job when one has children at home.
I have also recently gotten engaged to a wonderful man who not only adores me, but my teenager, my dogs and my cat!! I feel blessed.
Would love to hear stories of the "old days" from someone who may remember them better than myself!!!
