Barbara's Story
Now I know what it feels like to be an empty-nester and have time on my hands to reflect on my life! Between FaceBook and Classmates, I have reunited with quite a few of my old friends and I'm having so much fun! So here's a little bit about my life since grammar school at St. Mary's.
I've been happily married for 33 yrs. to Gene Weiler who I met while working at The Equitable back in 1975. We have one daughter, Kim, who is a graduate of San Diego State University (more than I could say for myself!)
After graduating from St. Mary's, I attended Lourdes High School. Graduating in 1971, I attend Southwest Community College and then Northern Illinois University. My only regret in life is that I did not graduate from college. I was planning on being an elementary school teacher but a relationship got in the way. t we needed a warmer climate, so we moved our family to the Los Angeles area (San Diego being our first choice but my husband's career landed us in LA instead).
I've done so much traveling with Gene and Kim so I guess that's really my hobby! We've traveled all across the U.S. and some of Canada. For the past 14 yrs., we've enjoyed doing so in our fifth-wheel RV (we're on our third and final one!). Camping, hiking, photography, the outdoors. I'm loving it! As soon as my husband retires, we plan on taking to the road and possibly working at the different parks, meeting people and enjoying life outdoors. . .as long as I can have a trip to Kauai or Hawaii once in a while!!
I've worked as a secretary, office manager, teacher's assistant, vacation Bible school teacher, Girl Scout Leader and volunteer. I can create a damn good soccer banner, too!
