Becky's Story
Life
My Spouse
College ROTC my freshman year - my older sister introduced us and my close friend talked me into just going to one party at his house. I did and let my guard down, we immediately became a couple. --My future husband and I became inseperable in a passionate love/hate relationship which has been the rollercoaster of my life. We really went through hell !!! We climbed the mountain of love to it's peak in 3 short years and spent several in the neutral zone swapping insults and the next 7 sliding slowly down, snagging on limbs, tumbling down rocky ravines... I think you get the picture. When we finally reached a point we thought was the lowest in our lives, everything turned around. It was soooo weird. I guess we had to reach the point, within our own limits, of the lowest we would stoop to strike out at each other before we had no where to go but up. Now, I have to say that on the way back up it's not all honeysuckles and fresh streams... we trip now and then but mostly we have the wind at our back and the warm sun or enchanting stars to lull us into submission and harmony. Now that I feel we've learned we need each other to make the journey, I am compelled more than ever to encourage other marriages. So, even if you didn't need this, I needed the practice... ;o)
My Kids
01/2001 ... Our boys are ado...Expand for more
rable! The older one is much like me and the younger one like his Daddy. His little temper tantrums are endearing now, because he's still a baby (1 yr old). I hope he outgrows this... but it's doubtfull. Our 3 yr old is an excellent big brother. He's nurturing, well-behaved (as much as a toddler can be), and sensitive.
01/2003 ... We now have a new addition! Our little Joanna banana was born 01/2002. She's in the NOW photo with me. That was Christmas '02. Our family is now complete! She is such a joy... the boys are nuts about her, too. She toddles around after them and gets into so much more than they ever did, but it's no wonder with 2 older siblings. These little ones are like little bear cubs the way they wrestle and play together! We're really enjoying these toddler years...
Workplace
The most rewarding job for me besides homemaker, was Athletic Director at a private school. I enjoyed making a difference in kids' lives. There's so much opportunity to teach them about basic social skills in P.E. class. My focus was always on encouraging each other, even those on the other team. I miss working with kids at school.
Now I'm training up my own little ones at home... it was definitely easier when it wasn't 24/7, but they're growing so fast that before long I'll be reminiscing over these days as well.
