Benjamin's Story
Let's see Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade at Public School 116 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. 3rd grade at Public School 75 and 4th & 5th grade at St. Barbara's Grammar School in Bushwick, Brooklyn. 6th & 7th grade at St. Joseph's Grammar School and 8th grade at Cor Jesu Grammar School West New York, New Jersey. I graduated from St. Joseph's of the Palisades High School.
I graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, served on active duty on board the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN - 69) and at Commander U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command and Commanding Officer U.S. Naval Station Panama Canal, Republic of Panama and later in the Naval Reserves. I graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas Texas. Later, I joined the U.S. Department of State and retired from the Naval Reserves.
Over the years, I have lived and worked in Panama, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Peru, Brazil, Washington, D.C, New York City, Austria and Iraq...Expand for more
for the USG. I have traveled to Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and North, Central and South America.
I have been back in Washington, D.C. from overseas tours, for the last two years. First on a United States Department of State Pearson Fellowship on Capitol Hill working in the Office of the Honorable Charles B. Rangel. Then, back with the U.S. Department of State in the Human Resources Bureau working on mentoring, diversity and inclusion and security clearance issues. Effective September 30, 2018, I retired from the U.S. Department of State and loving it and we live in suburban, MD, outside D.C..
I volunteer with Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services assisting U.S. Citizens and Legal Permanent Residents legalize the status of all family members. It is very fulfilling work, especially as the son of immigrants.
