Bernard's Story

Hi Everyone! In the 37 years since Taunton High I have lived and worked throughout the country. While in the U.S. Army from 73-76 I lived in San Antonio, TX and Tacoma, WA. I then went to the U. of Washington in Seattle where I obtained a BS in Orthotics & Prosthetics (the science of designing artifical limbs and orthotic braces and clinical management of patients using them. Following graduation in 1980 I worked in Minneapolis, MN and Eau Claire, WI before returning to Seattle in 1987. I got married in 1990 and stayed in the Seattle area until 2004, when i took a position as a community college instructor in Spokane, WA training students how to actually fabricate prosthetic and orthotic ...Expand for more
devices. This program is one of only 5 such programs in the country and is well attended. My wife Terri is a Seattle native who also works as an allied health professional. We do not have children but do have 2 australian shepherds and an 18 lb. black cat who thinks he's a dog as well. We enjoy the Northwest and camp/kayak/travel around the mountains of WA, ID and British Columbia. This fall I am returning to school to obtain a Masters degree in Adult Education, Instruction Media and Delivery. This will be interesting as I will be working full-time and have not been in school for 30 years! I would be pleased to find out how everyone has fared through the years. Thanks, Bernard Hewey
