Bert's Story
Rock climbing is my favorite activity, followed closely by powder skiing and fly-fishing. Next year I'm going to learn to surf. I am not very good at any of these activities, but I keep trying, just like I did in high school. It's a good thing I'm still young!
My 2nd marriage is going on 33 years now, so we are learning to get along pretty well now. Kate shared her son, Keith Lubsen, with me, and he has 2 kids with another girl on the way. He hasn't learned to share well, but we haven't given up on him...
We have visited every continent in the world now, but there are still many subcontinents we have yet to explore. I've spent most of our trips visiting hospitals, but we've also sought out a few places where they don't have hospitals, like Antarctica, and the Serengeti. My sister Kayrene's penpal of 52 years recognized me in Arnhem Land, Australia this past June...Expand for more
, which just goes to show you how small this world really is. You can't get any further away from everything than Arnhem land, unless it's Antarctica. (Google it!)
My little employee-owned company will be 30 years old in January 2010. We have helped save ~ 100,000 kids over the past 26 years with our LifePulse high frequency jet ventilator. (It's a breathing device, primarily used for life-support of prematurely born infants.)
In addition to being Chairman & CEO of Bunnell, Inc., I am an adjunct professor of bioengineering at the University of Utah. My biggest honor was being elected to the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering at the National Academies of Science in 2008. (Please don't tell them how stupid I really am.)
I'm trying to retire to Shell Beach, California where Kate and I recently bought a house, but I still have too much to do...
