Life
Back at Alba, I was voted "most likely to succeed" in 1960, but after a short stint at B'ham Southern, I left to marry, have 2 children and didn't get back to school until the mid 70's. I got an ADN from Illinois Valley Community College and later an AAS in criminal justice. Went on to get a BSN at University of NY, a MS at Central Michigan, and PHD from Kennedy Western. I worked at Community Hospital in Ottawa (ER, 3E, ICU,and ob/gyn), then went to MCG in Augusta GA for a year. When Jim got a job in Gainesville, FL I worked a year at the VAMC in SICU, then transferred to Augusta VAMC, when he went to work with Georgia Power at the nuclear plant. s in the road (I got leukemia in 1995 and had a BMT), I worked a couple more years in QM at the VA, then got a job with the VA Inspector General living in Stone Mountain GA. Got to travel all over and loved it. I retired 1/1/08. Vicky has 2 children (Jacky 27 who has a 4 yr old daughter and 2 year old son and Byron 20), Russ married our Goddaughter, Beth Moritz when he was 51, father at 53. Greyson will be 3 in August. They have 4 dogs. Vicky lives in LaGrange, IL and Russ lives in Augusta near our house there. I've had a few works published in professional journals, am active in NARFE, Mensa, and Elks. Since retirement, we've been traveling the world. When called to deploy, I work with a DMAT as a nurse. Wear fatigues, and the whole uniform. It is great to use my skills, just when I want to do so.
