Beth's Story

Life We have two grown daughters, both living in Dallas. Our younger daughter and her husband have three children who are growing up MUCH too fast (15, 13, and 10). Our older daughter is a career girl as the executive director, corporate development, of a national hospitalist company. When I retire (my husband is already retired) we will probably migrate closer to Dallas so we can enjoy the family there and to alleviate them having to care for us "long distance" when the need arises. Workplace I have been Secretary/Executive Secretary/Administrative Assistant (pick a title, any title) to the Episcopal Bishop of Arkansas ...Expand for more
for almost 33 years - three different bishops with another one coming at the first of 2007. I have also served the Episcopal Church nationally in several capacities over the years, most recently serving on a Task Force to Study Employment Policies and Practices in the Episcopal Church. I am currently the President of the National Network of Episcopal Church employees and have served in the past as President and Vice President of B+E+S+T (Bishops' Executive Secretaries Together) and of NNLP (National Network of Lay Professionals). Obviously, I enjoy what I do and hope to do it a few more years before I step into retirement.

Well, at least it matches my hair!
What a great night last night. Granddaughter, Kathryn, looked absolutely lovely as she graduated from Good Shepherd Middle School. Her mom, Chaplain Lacey, did a great job with her opening and closing prayers at the servi
Changing leaves in Michigan bodes, we hope, for the same in Arkansas in about two weeks. What a wonderful trip with good friends to wrap up two busy travel weeks.
Had such a wonderful time at the 25th annual B+E+S+T Conference in Syracuse. It was a great conference, lots of old friends, lots of new friends, but my own personal highlight was the visit to Rome (NY) on Saturday for din
I guess this is my favorite photo taken in April. . . or at least one of them. It was taken 40 minutes before the whole atmosphere changed. Again, way to go, Marcie!
Since this is National Daughters Day, I thought I would celebrate my two fantastic daughters to the "discussion." What a blessing they are to me and to all who know them. Love you, Marcie and Hope Matthews Lacey!

And graduation #2
A very proud grandmother with her lovely graduate on a warm Sunday evening
My good deed for today was to rescue this tiny box turtle from our fish pond. Thank you Randall Curtis our expert Turtle Whisperer for your sage wisdom re: where to put Yertle so he/she could hibernate.
What a way to start the day! It's even better when you include kids and grands, plus special girlfriend. Love Siesta Key!!
You sure don't get this quality of seafood in landlocked places!
