William's Story

Life My Job Tedious- but at times fulfilling School Keep in mind as your read this, that it was written on a night when I had at least 7 beers in me. Actually, I've lost count of how many beers I've had. Remembering high school is not entirely pleasant for me. I met many people that I wish I could have stayed in touch with and I have many fond memories. Unfortunately, these memories are somewhat of a curse for me. It is with great sadness that I cannot simply step back in time, relive some of those memories, and reconnect with some of those people. Time is cruel. As much as I wish it were otherwise, those moments cannot be recaptured. Here are some of my high school memories (not in order). 1)I broke up with my first girlfriend, Joan. (She was very nice and I will carry some of my memories of her to the grave) 2) I fell in love with a girl named Christy who played on the soccer team. She dumped my sorry ass after high school, left me with a shattered heart, sense of self-worth and years of nightmares. On the plus side, it taught me to deal with insecurity. Lucky me, I guess I'm better off. 3) I met some truly wonderful people that I will never forget. Here is a short list: Mike Spletzer, Mary Jane Thompson, Lisa Eidman, Judy Shafer, Marvin Savage, Robert Brooks, Joe Gross and Jack Hohenstein. 4) I gained a father figure. My soccer coach, Lou Marrucc...Expand for more
i, left such an impact that, to this day, my memory of him is my measure of what a man should be. 5) I met my best friend Joe Gross. I've lost touch with him (he's moved on, has a family and lives in another State). My epitaph will be, "Here lies Bill Donovan, his best friend was Joe". 6)I had numerous minor crushes on girls I called "friends". Here is a list: Judy Shafer, Lisa Eidman, Darlene Wilson and Denise Dougherty. If any of you ever read this, send me an email, we'll get together (wink). 7) I played lots of soccer and I'm fortunate enough to have the occasional dream where I score the winning goal. ------------------------------------------------------------------ February 22, 2007. Saturday morning. Oops, that sappy bit written above was done while under the influence sometime during 2003. Forgive me. I'm slightly embarrassed by it and I've thought about removing it many times, but it's honest, so for now it stays. From reading it you may get the impression that my life stopped after high school. Of course it didn't. Here is a list of some personal high points for me. -graduated from Drexel University with a degree in accounting -passed the CPA exam -Worked overseas for six months (Dublin, Ireland) -traveled to the following places: Scotland, Demark, France, Amsterdam, and Sweden -bought a log cabin in the Poconos where I currently reside
