School
I was the typical nerd. I loved math and band, and just existed otherwise. I was slow to mature both physically and socially. I didn't date until late college.
College
It took me a long time to get through college. I had a very rough start at Ga. Tech. Switched to UGA to become a math teacher in my fourth year. After teaching two years, got a fellowship, and spent the next four years at UGA working on my doctorate in educational research and statistics. Have taken other courses later in business and computers.
Workplace
Taught high school math at first, but moved to teaching college. Moved to Detroit to be statistician at WSU Computing Center for five years. From there went to GM for seven years as programmer, and EDS for five as manager. Return...Expand for more
ed to GA for ten years--most at MCI. Returned to Detroit and worked out of my Detroit home as web master for an Atlanta MCI group through August 2005 when I was part of a massive layoff.
Interests
I still teach math and statistics in college occasionally. I am a bridge fanatic, and play duplicate multiple times per week. I am heavy into PCs and the web. Since I am a Democratic liberal, I loved the 2008 and 2012 presidential races and results.
Military
I was 4F for physical reasons, and never served in the military, but I have taught for the military on several occasions, and made some contribution.
I taught high school math at Gordon Military College in Georgia many years ago.
For five or more years in the late 1990's, I taught college math, statistics, engineering, computer and business courses for Embry-Riddle at the Naval Air Station (Dobbins) in Marietta, GA--about 25 classes in all. Later I taught for about three years at the Air National Guard Station in Selfridge, MI.
