LIFE written April 2009: updated Nov. 2013: I've lived in ME since 1985 and been married 30 yrs. to Anne (Finley), who studied Voice 2 years at the New England Conservatory (Boston). She was a Certified Nurse's Aide/Med. Tech and now has an Associates in Library Science from Lewiston-Auburn College. To help earn money, Oct. 2007 until Sept. 2011 she worked at the Lewiston Hannaford's in the bakery. On April 9, 2009 her mom, Cecile (Bedard) Finley passed away at age 90. ******************************* THREE CHILDREN: Amanda Marie (27) --- B.S. University of Maine (Psychology & Communication Disorder) --- lived near Seattle --- wants to continue her education --- worked for a naturopath doctor, who inspired Amanda to study this field as well --- lately she has had second thoughts --- moved back to Maine in Sept. 2009 --- plans to further her education at University of Maine Orono ---worked at Central Maine Medical Center (Medical Records) ---now lives and works in Newport News, Virginia ---engaged...to be married July 2014 Jon(athan) James (24) --- graduated from Lewiston High School --- married Cora Schott on Oct. 14, 2011 --- joined the Army Reserves... completed Basic Training in April 2009 at Fort Jackson, SC ... Advanced Training at Fort Gordon, GA....... returned home early Oct. --- Anne, Patrick and I went to Jon's graduation from Basic (near Columbia, SC). --- April 16-26, 2010 trip to Japan with two friends --- married two years Patrick Maury (20) --- graduated from Lewiston High School, Class of 2011 --- worked at Sears (Lewiston, ME) in the Photo Studio... This was Seasonal. --- Army Basic Training: Fort Sill, OK --- Advanced Training: Fort Lee, VA .................................................................. Anne, Jon & Cora and I were at Pat's graduation July 27, 2012 On Family Day (July 26) Pat sang the National Anthem a cappella. Pat went on to Fort Lee, VA, while we four continued our car trip. Already we had trekked through Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas, including being at a Red-Sox-AT-Texas-Rangers game. We continued via Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, a piece of Kentucky, then via Pittsburgh, Hershey, Lancaster, then a visit to two of my cousins in Connecticut, then home! For me this was 4700 miles of driving in about a week and a half! Pat did a stint later on at Fort Benning, GA, learning parachuting. After visiting us during the Christmas break, he went on to Fort Campbell, KY. He was married in late March 2013. He served in Afghanistan for most of the remainder of 2013 into early 2014. Pat is back at Fort Campbell. ******************************** My parents are gone (my mother: 1985; Dad: 1992) I was Organist at United Baptist Church (Lewiston, ME), 1985-2007. ################################## I thank God for allowing me to earlier fulfill a dream (jobs/travel). Thomas Jones... Mr. Jones was Wareham High School Band / Orchestra Director until 1967 1971-1974: Bridgewater (MA) State College... B.A. Mathematics/Secondary Education 1972: co-soloist with Brockton Symphony Orchestra: Saint-Saens: "Le carnaval des animaux"... I had performed the work in May 1969 with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra. 1972: organ recital in Portland, OR during a visit to my aunt ................................................................ 1973: 6-WEEK TRIP - July 18 piano recital in Bad Koenigshofen im Grabfeld, Germany - spent time with Gerhard Kellner, Wareham HS Exchange Student, 1968-1969: - Sankt Gilgen is where Mozart's mother was born - took me sailing on Wolfgangsee - Mexico, Aug. 1: Dave Rinald (Bridgewater State College choral director) & and I performed a vocal / piano concert in Teziutlan, Puebla [east of Mexico City] 1974: Soloist with New Bedford Symphony Orchestra (Beethoven: C Minor Piano Concerto, op.37) ################################# 1974-1979 SOJOURN....... i.e. living, studying, teaching in AUSTRIA (Stateside summers) NOTE I: I was visited by the parents of Dianne (Winberg) Beaton. We had a nice evening together. NOTE II: My Fourth of July 1976 was spent in Bad Koenigshofen im Grabfeld, West Germany with my parents. This was the only time they were in Europe with me. We were visiting my friend, Josef Treutlein, who had just become a priest. During the first Mass he celebrated I was honored to take part, playing a Mozart organ work (KV 594, originally one of three composed for a water clock... such delightful Works, they survive in the Organ Literature). ********************************************************* Here's the sojourn outline: 1974-1975: taught math & music at Sea Pines Abroad, Faistenau (pron. "FIGH-steh-now") - a private American high school with 22 students and 4 teachers - 128-day school year (early Oct. till mid May), comprised of 6 one-month grading periods - My largest math class was Algebra I (5 students). - four learning excursions via two vans and a car: - late Oct: Venice (5 days) - mid Dec: Munich (2 days) - mid Feb: Vienna (5 days) - April : 2 weeks to Verona Florence Lucca Pisa Rome NOTE: During the Vienna excursion I again met Gerhard Kellner and introduced him to the staff and students. .................................................................. 1975-1979: resided in Salzburg - studied at Mozarteum (Organ and Choral Conducting) - Accompanist for 6 choruses, incl.
