Bob's Story
Life as of February 6,2019
After grad-nite I worked at CV bowl, a sport I still do, doing odd jobs. Met Donna, moved to SoCal. Donna moved here and we got married. After two years at La Habra Bowl, I started work at a sign company learning sheet metal and installations. I retired the electric sign business after thirty-nine years, building signs from scratch. Daughter Julie was born in Jan, 1979. The "then" photo is me and high school pal Chris Ostlund just before we went to Disneyland on grad-nite. Had marrige problems after 7 years and stuck it out for 14 more. Divorced Donna in 1996 and while renting a room from Sharleen, started dating her and in 1997 we were married. Me and Donna still get along well as the divorce was a mutual thing. Sharleen is a doll and anyone who knows me would wonder how she puts up with me. I still bowl, have four 300 games to my credit and bowled an 800 series in 2003, a 259-296-245 800 on the nose. Played softball for eleven years. Don't like to travel a lot. Went to NY in 94 and was on the Rolanda Show with my brother. We have relatives there and in '96 went back with Shar, my sister Maxine and Julie to visit. A Royal Flush on a video poker machine paid the air-fare. The LA area is fine as the busy atmosphere is fine with me. Bowl in leagues and like going to Vegas twice a year. Our ideal getaway is a bed-and -breakfast in Sedona, AZ, for a few days, being pampered and feeding the ducks along Oak Creek. I really like getting in touch with old friends and lately it's been picking up. The 35th re-union was a blast. We currently live in Brea, Ca. one of the million cities in the area. It's next to Fullerton about thirty mile east of LA in Ora...Expand for more
nge County. My biggest problem is I can't seem to grow up, mentally that is. An example of this is, a waitress will say "My name is ------ if you need anything." I respond with "What is it if we don't need anything?" I'm still subtly sarcastic and sometimes it takes people a while to figure my sense of humor. I work part-time selling sports memorabilia and shipping the ebay sales in a coin store and really enjoy it alot. I've sold a few items on e-bay and like browsing. Our vehicles now consist of a 2001 Lexus 300X and our 2010 Toyota Venza. I sold the 1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie in the profile photo. My ultimate dream car would be a 1958 Cadillac, either a sedan or El Dorado Biarritz. I like toying with my computer and just kicking back and watching TV, driving the wife nuts with the remote in my hand. Well, that about wraps it up for me for now. Keep in touch,BOB ESLER (3/10)in dec '08 i had ulnar replacement surgery in my right wrist and have since switched to left-handed bowling.doing ok averaging 187 currently. I actually averaged 201 in 2016 as a lefty and am pretty proud of that. daughter turned 40 in jan of 2019. After retiring from signs I got a lot heavier in buying and selling old baseball cards as well as coins and selling on ebay as esler2154. In 2006 we sold the condo and bought a unit at a senior mobile home park. nice and quiet here.
It is February 2019. I have been retired from the sign business since February of 2015. I am currently working in a coin store in La Habra Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. If you have any questions about your old coins or sports stuff, I am always happy to answer them. I am always happy to answer e-mails. BOB ESLER
