Bob's Story
After finishing Grade 13 at Burnaby Central, I work for the weather service (Transport Canada and Environment Canada) for 40 years. After spending about 5 years at Port Hardy as a weather observer, I moved to Vancouver doing various jobs within the weather service. Finally in 2005 I retired to enjoy life!
I never married and remain single to this day.
I still enjoy photography (#1 passion), walking, badminton, model railroading, reading (mainly on climate change currently), watching a variety of programming (particularly nature and science) in HDTV and movies on Blu-ray, keeping up to date with environmental issues. I have a Facebook account which I enjoy using regularly to keep up with the latest news and events. I am a member of the Vancouver Art Gallery, Science World, Beaty Biodiversity Museum at UBC where I regularly attend lectures and help record them.
I really enjoyed the 2010 Olympics. I had some awesome tickets to about a dozen events. I took hundreds of photos! I had fun collecting 2010 Olympic lapel pins before, during and after the Oly...Expand for more

I also enjoy collecting Hallmark Peanuts Ornaments and Hallmark Christmas Ornaments. I also love decorating inside and out during for Christmas. My outdoor display has grown to over 8,000 lights.
I recently enjoyed taking a first year college course in astronomy. - "Understanding the Universe: An Introduction to Astronomy" Professor Alex Filippenko, University of California Berkley. It is a non credit course on DVD. 96 - 1/2 hour lectures. Provided by The Teaching Company: The Great Courses. I have a few more courses to enjoy.
I am a proud blood donor with 158 donations to date and encourage all that are still healthy to donate. You are the blood bank! I also made a bone marrow donation a few years ago.
I am passionate about the environment and nature. I try to do my part by recycling and saving energy wherever possible and supporting a few conservation organizations that are working to protect wildlife and their habitat. I am continually checking the internet for the latest stories and information on climate change and wildlife conservation.
