Bob's Story

Life NOTE: For those reading my profile, please click on my name in Classmates and "send me an e-mail"..would love to hear from some people..let me know who you are....Read on..Born in Everett, Mass.,U.S.A. in 1950... moved to Wilmington, Mass. in 1954 and then family moved to Toronto in 1959. Lived at 98 Kingsview Blvd., Etobicoke. First school in Tor. was Kingsview Village until grade 6 then Dixon Grove for 7 and 8 then Kipling for grade 9 and finally Scarlett Heights for 10 - 12. First part-time job was at Loblaws grocery store at Islington Ave. and Dixon Rd. (Toronto). I was there for 4 years (full-time during the summers). It has since been torn down. Then, in 1969, worked for 6 months full-time at Loblaws in the Albion Mall (Kipling Ave. and Albion Rd.). It also is not there any more. Married Brenda Taylor (also ex-Scarlett Heights C.I.) in Nov. 1972. (Brenda hasd a twin sister Barbara - who also went to SHCI)..we have 2 kids, Brett(37yrs) and Stacey (33yrs). We lived in Bramalea for a few years then moved to Burlington in 1983. Both Brett and Stacey attended M.M. Robinson High School in Burlington between 1989 and 1997. Brett has been a Police Officer for 16 years, (15 months with York Regional Police and 15 years with Toronto Police) and Stacey was married October 2006 in Aruba and lives North of Barrie, Ont. I joined the Toronto Police Service in 1970 and retired May 1, 2001 after a great 31 1/2 year career (worked in Traffic for many years, breathalyzer technician, accident investigator etc etc, then as a Sexual Assault/Child Abuse investigator for 4 years)... with my last 12 years as a Traffic Sergeant in the downtown area (45 Strachan Ave. and 14 Division Sub-Station in the CNE grounds). Live with Brenda (yup, still married after nearly 40 long years... #40 this November)...in Burlington, Ont. Brenda enjoys working 3 days a week for an eye doctor here in Burlington. I now have a retirement job with Woodbine Entertainment Group at Mohawk Racetrack in Security as a Supervisor (not the slots). Have been there since March 2002. It's a great retirement job! We had a family home in Florida on the Gulf Coast just North of Clearwater for 23 yrs. but sold it 10 yrs. ago....was great for holidays with ...Expand for more
the kids in '70's,'80's and '90's....got to see the Blue Jays in Spring training for many years plus we visited all the Florida attractions...some several times. Sure got to know the drive on I-75 pretty good! We became first time grandparents Feb. 7, 2002 when our son and his wife had a baby girl (Emma Victoria......what can I say - SHE IS A DOLL!! .... today (July 2012) she is 10 1/2 yrs. old. Then on August 9, 2004, we became grandparents again to TWIN granddaughters... Paige Emily and Katie Elizabeth!! Sure is a good thing I got that retirement job a couple years ago!! Three beautiful granddaughters to buy for and spoil!!! But it is well worth it!! It's great! Ooops, another granddaughter due April 2006...our daughter is due this time.... actually, Olivia Taylor Sinton was born March 29th, 2006! Olivia is now 6 years old!! That gave us 6 beautiful grandkids as Stacey's husband has 2 children from a previous marriage (Alexa and MacLane). Unfortunately Stacey's husband Stan passed away in 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Life goes on. LIVE STRONG ... BE STRONG ... BE a BELIEVER was Stan's motto !!! Today we have another grandson (Tyler) born 7 weeks ago!!! Kent MacGregor and his son Ben are part of our family now!!! Love to travel to Western Canada....especially Calgary, where we have family. Have made several trips to Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Rockies, Glacier National Park....simply beautiful country!! I still have family in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Washington State. Another beautiful place we have been to twice now in the past 3 years is Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.... located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula. College The only College I attended was between Sept. 1971 and Feb. 1972 when I attended the Ontario Police College in Aylmer, Ontario as a member of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force. Workplace 1st job - 1965 to 1970 at Loblaw's grocery store (Dixon & Islington then at the Albion Mall in Toronto), 4 yrs. part-time then 6 mo. full time. 2nd job - 1970 to 2001 as a Police Officer with the Toronto Police Force / Service. Retired May 2001. 3rd job (retirement job) - 2002 to present as a Security Supervisor with Woodbine Entertainment Group (Mohawk Racetrack).
