Bob's Story
Bob is a native of Oklahoma, but grew up in Memphis Tennessee, where he attended Hollywood Junior High School Class of 1954 and Treadwell High School Class of 1957. After receiving a football scholarship to Tulane, then a member of the SEC, Bob attended the Tulane University Freeman School of Business where he graduated with a B.B.A degree In 1961. Bob later attended the SMU Dedman School of Law and graduated with a J.D. degree in 1971. After graduating from Tulane in 1961 Bob entered the U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport Rhode Island In November of 1961, graduated and was commissioned as an Ensign on April 13 of 1962. Bob then served on active duty as an officer for three years, his first duty assignment was as damage control and engineering officer and liquid cargo officer aboard a gasoline tanker, the U.S.S. Chewaucan AOG-50 based in Charleston S.C. Bob was reassigned in July 1963 to Beach Jumper Unit Two ( BJU-Two ), which was a part of the Navy’s Special Warfare Command attached to the Atlantic Fleet Amphibious Force at Little Creek Virginia, which at that time was commanded by Admiral McCain, father of Senator McCain. Near the end of his Beach Jumper Two tour of duty Bob was reassigned in September 1964 to the USS Samuel B. ier served on a Mediterranean deployment from September through December of 1962 aboard the Chewaucan. The following year Bob was again deployed from September 1963 through December of 1963 with the Carribean Amphibious Force Ready Squadron in Puerto Rico while with Beach Jumper Unit Two. Released from active duty on April 13 of 1965, Bob remained a member of the Ready Reserve and after serving a total of 20 years of combined active and reserve service, Bob retired from the Navy with the rank of Commander. During the period ( 1965-1968 ) after completing his active duty with the U.S. Navy Bob lived and worked in Houston Texas, first in a sales management training program with the Georgia Pacific Corporation and then as a project estimator and manager with general contractor Rowe & Mayfield. In August 1968 Bob entered law school at SMU in Dallas Texas. After graduating from law school in the upper quarter of his class in May 1971 Bob practiced corporate law for 28 years, the first two years with the General Motors Legal Staff at the GM home office on Grand Boulevard in Detroit Michigan and then twenty six years with the Occidental Petroleum Corporation Legal Staff in Tulsa Oklahoma. Bob retired from Occidental in 1999 and is happily married and now resides in Frisco Texas with his wife Kathy Adcock Anderson Price who is a native of Shreveport Louisiana and a graduate of Byrd High School ( 1960 ) and LSU ( 1964 ).
