Robert's Story
How many of you have buried your parents, or a sibling, or even a close friend within the last few years? I imagine that quite a few of you have. I can think of at least a dozen of my relatives and/or friends who have passed on in the last 43 years, starting with my brother back in 1966. Mom passed in '72 , and Dad was gone by '83. My wife's parents, who I also loved dearly, left us in 1999 and 2000, respectively. My wife's Dad had the foresight to actually die on Father's Day.
Several good friends have also passed in the last few years, at much too young of an age. Some of these were EHS friends, such as Harvey B., Greg H., Kathy C., Kathy K., Lee K., Jane U., Nancy C., and Randy K., just to name a few. Others were friends that I found later in life. I also lost my favorite teacher during the last couple of years...Mrs. Bennett...she was my inspiration, and she knew it...because I told her so.

nd one of my favorite second cousins, her granddaughter, passed several years before that. My sister's husband has been gone probably four or five years, now...I really can't remember...and it's been almost three years since my good buddy BJ left us. He was my hunting and golfing pal.
The point of all of this is that we are still here, and we need to make the most of every day that we have. I can certainly attest to that! My advice to anyone that is reading this is to go see, or at least contact, the people that you love more often than you do, just to let them know that you care, because you might never get another chance. Life is strange, sometimes, and it is certainly unpredictable. I can vouch for that. Life is a treat, and we need to make the best of it. My feeling is that you will never find more joy in life than when you can make someone else feel loved or appreciated, and the way to make that happen is to do it while you still have the chance.
