Hi fellow Soesters
I will make this as brief as possible! When I left Soest, Dad was posted to Fredericton New Brunswick. I loved it there! there were a few Soesters there - Eric Turner, Iris Young and Doug Krupp are the ones that come to mind. that made the move a little easier - just having familiar faces around. We were only there 9 months and then off to Carleton Place ON (small town just outside Ottawa). I graduated high school in Carleton Place and went into Nursing at Brockville General Hosptial Regional School of Nursing and graduated as an RN in 1971. I met my husband, David, in 1968 in Carleton palce and we we married in 1972. We have lived in Carleton Place all our married life and have 2 children - Steven 38 and Maggie 32. Steven is married to Tammy and has 2 lovely daughters, Keira (4) and Brigitt (2). Maggie is single and both live in Ottawa which is great for us as it is only 20 minutes away! did some work with VON and worked at Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital for about 37 years. I retired 3 years ago and we sold the family home. David is semi-retired and we spend our summers at our cotttage on Sand Lake (near Kingston) and our winters in our little bungalow in Carleton Place and travelling. Other than one glitch with breast cancer in 1998, I have been very fortunate and hopefully (fingers crossed) I will continue to be healthy. Mum and Dad are both gone now (miss them terribly) Mum in 1992 and Dad in 2008. David and I keep in touch with Doug Krupp and his wife Elizabeth and have visited a couple of times. Does anyone know where Alana Sydenham is? Update! We have sold the house in Carleton Place and the cottage and are now living in a renovation project on the Big Rideau at Portland ON. We love it here and are looking forward to renovating the house in the fall. I guess no one has heard from Alana, but if you know where she is please let me know.
