Brad's Story

Life My Bio..it sounds so ominous. I'll start from 81 and move forward.I attended Hinds after graduating from Forest Hill. I had a great time and fell in love but it was not meant to be.I transferred to The University of Southern Mississippi and had a GREAT time. I changed majors seven times but still managed to graduate in 4 years. Along the way I fell in love (again) but it was not meant to be. I was in lust most of the time as many of you will remember but did manage to truly fall in love (for real this time). I was in the Insurance business as many of you may remember during college and continued in that field until 1989. Rita and I were married in 1988 and moved to Hattiesburg so she could finish her degree. I went into the field of Medical Sales in 1990 (Thanks for the oppportunity Roger) and moved to Metairie where I covered half of MS and LA. We began to consider adding additional lines of equipment to sell so in 1995 we started our own company Gulf States Medical Supply. We were blessed with the birth of our first daughter Sarah in 1996 and moved to Baton Rouge in 1997. In 1999 we were again blessed with the birth of our second daughter Sophia. In 2000 we made the decision to move to Austin, TX and work with GE Medical Systems. Although I have never been one to express regrets, the move was not a good fit. In addition my fathers health began declining. Coupled with the fact that I was working 7 days a week, 18 hours a day and rarely sleeping,I knew that something had to give. The decision was made as a family to move back to Baton Rouge. It was difficult to get back into Medical Sales with the 800lb GE gorilla on my back but...Expand for more
finally I found a great company. I cover 3 states (most of MS, LA, AL,) but I have never been happier. I finally realized that pride does go before the fall, and that family is and will always be the most important thing in my life. I have been blessed with a beautiful wife and two of the most beautiful daughters anyone could have ever hoped for. We have fun and enjoy each others company and most importantly we make each other laugh. Too many people take life way too seriously. Slow down, enjoy the ride and laugh..or at least crack a smile!! I have been lucky enough to have been able to coach both of my daughters in team sports. I have been active in The Knights of Columbus for overe 15 years as well as recently helping form a Mens Club at our Parish. I enjoy volunteering my time and prefer to work face to face in these endeavors. College Some of the best days (and nights!!)were spent on the campus at Southern Miss. I enjoyed my four years in Hattiesburg and am hoping to reconnect with many of you through Classmates. I have moved alot over the years (Thanks to all of you who helped!!) and email has been the constant way to find me-sjvdad at yahoodotcom I hope to hear from all of you so fire up those computers and let me know what's been going on. As an update, I am trying to locate those of you from 84-86 who either lived in Hattiesburg Hall or hung around the hall. You may have been a resident of Hickman, Mississippi, Pulley, Jones, Hillcrest, Roberts or even Panhellenic. We live in Baton Rouge and can always be found at sjvdadatyahoodotcom. Also on Facebook. You should join as many of our and your friends are already on there.
