Brad's Story

Life Hi! ok, here goes.. I have two gorgeous daughters, a great black lab, no wife, a good job, a nice home, an average car, excellent health, and plenty of future still in sight, which is nice... School Biggest crush...well, I was too shy to tell her at the time, but if there is anyone who I would like to find now to let her know, it would be Tonya Young. She was in the same graduating class ('81) but I believe she was only at Foothill for her senior year, she is not even pictured in the yearbook. We had the same P.E. class with Mrs. Conley that year. Tonya was tall, thin, blonde, beautiful, and of course, TAKEN! My favorite teacher was probably either Bob Ezell or Ted Oliver. Too many memories to list, but yes, I'd do it again, but I'd do it MUCH differently! Workplace I started in the oilfields on a drilling rig under the supervision of my stepfather, which was Hell on earth, so I quit that job, moved-in with Dad and went to B.C. for about a year-and-a-half. I got bored and frustrated with that, so I enlisted in the Marine Corps looking for a "Do-Over". I got it.. I worked as an airframes structural mechanic on CH-46 and CH-53 helicopters for my entire enlistment tour. When I got out, I came back home and got a pretty mediocre job as an installation repair person for a small, fami...Expand for more
ly-owned low voltage contractor. I wasted 11 years there that I'll never get back, but on the bright side learned enough to help me get the job I have now, which is Installation & Repair Tech for SBC. I've been with them for over six years, and love it. Military On May 14th, 1984 (Mother's Day, as my mom still makes a habit of pointing-out) I started my enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps at the Recruit Depot in San Diego. I graduated and claimed the title on August 3rd of that year. I'm not even going to go into why I did it, or how hard bootcamp was, if you're a Marine you know, if not, you'll never know or understand, no matter what Hollywood or other people tell you. I went to my "A" school (where you are educated and trained for your primary job) at NAS Millington, near Memphis, Tennessee to learn the job of Airframes Mechanic(structures). From there I had more advanced training at MCAS El Toro/Tustin, Ca. Then in March of 1985 I recieved orders for my permanent duty station, MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hi., where I was assigned to HMM-165 (the White Knights.) It was home for the next three years, but twice my squadron was detached and sent to Okinawa for six months each time, and from there I spent time in mainland Japan and Korea. My enlistment ended on April 5th, 1988. No regrets...
