Brian's Story
Hi Everyone:
So I graduated from Madison in June of 1990 and spent the next couple of years just hanging out and working various jobs like the News Journal, Sears telemarketing, and who knows what else. I was really just killing time until I left for the Air Force.
I left for boot camp in the AF on St. Patricks Day, 1992 and was enlisted for 4 years. During that time I completed boot campt at Lackland AFB, TX, then technical school at Keesler AFB, MS, to learn about Personnel (which is what my job was). From there I went to Randolph AFB, TX, where I spent the next four years until I got out on St. Patrick's Day, 1996. While I was in the AF, I earned an Associate's Degree in Business.
After the military I moved back home to Mansfield, OH, where I got a job at The Center for Individual & Family Services as an HR Assistant. From there I moved to Columbus, OH, where I took on various roles in HR at Nationwide Insurance, JPMorganChase, Citigroup and Cardinal Health.
During my time in Columbus I completed my Bachelor's degree with a major ...Expand for more
in HR Management and minor in Organizational Development. I also obtained by PHR certification and am currently studying to take the SPHR exam this summer ('08).
I love to travel, so at least once a year I take a fairly significant vacation. Last year I went to Southern Arizona, prior to that it was Montana and Alberta, Canada, then North California, then Oregon and Washington coasts. This year I'm planning a trip to San Francisco and the mid-California region.
To answer all the questions that you guys had in school - yes - I'm gay - and loving it! Although I was really shy and selfconscious about it in school - I never came out or embraced it until I was in the military - which oddly enough everyone was cool with it. I made lots of friends and had a great time in the Air Force.
I've got a Golden Retriever dog named Milo and a cat named Otis, currently live in Columbus near Easton and Gahanna area. I own a 4-bedroom house, 2 cars and plan to adopt a couple of children within the next couple of years, other than that - I am enjoying life!
